Really I don't think much of this city cares much anymore. If you just visited Calgary for the first time you wouldn't even know they have an NHL team. You see no flags anywhere, nobody wearing Flames merchandise, nobody even talks about them outside of hardcore fans like us. I think the owners are in for a world of hurt once things get back to normal and they have to start selling season tickets again.

I have a lot of coworkers who are Flames fans, but the conversation usually goes around how they'll piss away the next game. Very little hype or excitement around the team lately.

It's a bad sign I'm counting down the days until the Cavs or Blue Jays season begins before the Flames season is even over.

Each game I hope this team has hit rock bottom. I think they have a ways to go yet. Makes me sad.

I just want to hope that the sens have our number this season, and the boys are able to do something against the jets. Blind hope. Stupid hope. I know. But still hope.

The Flames are Covid entertainment. When you can't leave your house and most other entertainment options are closed, they are an entertainment option you consider watching. It will be tough for them to compete with Karaoke or bingo after the pandemic passes.

I don’t think there were many who did. I was not a big fan of Ward, but the problems were and are definitely deeper

You know a team is truly rotten when they couldn’t even sustain a dead cat bounce for more than 3 games. Even the hapless Oilers managed to win 8 of 10 when hitchcock took over. There is just something putrid about this group right now.

I'm pretty sure losing has the Flames number this season. The Canadian division is probably the worst division in the league and the Flames have more losses than wins. They would probably be Buffalo bad if they played the East division.

There was a tweet earlier this season about how the Sens would dominate one team and it would ruin their playoff hopes.

That team is clearly the Flames.

Flames are 13-11-3 if you remove the 7 games against the Sens.

Oilers are 14-13-0 if you remove their 7 games against the Sens.

Honestly the difference between 6th and 2nd at this point is how bad we’ve been against the senators.

Those are the two pinch points
1. TDL
2. Off-season pre draft, pre Johnny NTC

Gotta be one of them.
I don’t necessarily mean that the core changes need to be done at the deadline, but sell everything not bolted down.

Bennett? Time to go.

Ryan? Rittich? Can you pull any picks off the scrap heap? Do it.

I’d be hopeful we can snag a big move (Gaudreau or Monahan to Florida for Lundell...big dream)

Time for Tree to get to work, and if his close-up face shots on the Sportsnet broadcast told us anything - he friggin’ knows it.

Unfortunately I think you are right.

On the bright side, glad fans aren’t allowed in. I would have hated having to pay for this crap day in and day out.

The question is if we can stay above the Senators in the standings

Sounds like something a bad team would do...

If the Flames can made a couple good selling deadline deals the season won't be all bad. Other Canadian teams can buy only to get pounded in the third round (at best)

I hope not!

Tankville 2021! It wasn’t the plan, but it’s best to react to the situation you’re in - not the one you’re dreaming about. If the season ended today the Flames would be drafting 8th overall. Let’s get that to at least 3rd!
