Treliving got a dead cat bounce with the coaching change.

Now he’s a dead duck.

Would make sense, if it ended up being Lombardi and only if the owners picked Sutter (both possible).

I'm guessing this is why Burke left? Couldn't handle the BS anymore?

Treliving fell in love with his own roster. It led to stagnation, and this is what stagnation gets you.

He built a woefully under-skilled team, and leveraged the future to do so.

The last sentence is funny.

But to tbe bolded: Does Treliving actually do this? It seems to me this is the sort of talk that comes from around-the-League-types.

If we’re not gonna run the table now or win a bunch of games in a row. May as well just lose out the season. Let’s get a top3 pick for once and make some other big changes in the off season.

Missing the playoffs by 3 points is worst case scenario, and also most likely.

I really think this season was a huge marketing miss from the Calgary Flames. Canadian division, millions of people at home with nothing to do. Do you really want to sit down and watch these Calgary Flames?

They could have gained so many fans this year if they were fun to watch.

Of course they're going to go on a run and ruin any chance of drafting high... and obviously miss the playoffs. Its the Calgary way.

A top 3 pick doesn't hold a ton of value this year because the entire draft is a crap shoot. The Flames could very easily lose out the rest of the season and still end up with another Bennett.

It figures they would choose this year to completely stop trying, thus ensuring the fans have absolutely nothing to cling to for hope. Disappointment is part of the franchise DNA at this point.

I’m not saying he shouldn’t be fired - it’s a results league. But 2 years ago all the anti-Treliving guys were saying this was still Feaster’s team, and pointing to Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett as the basis for that.

It’s actually accurate to say that the players most complained about, aside from Tkachuk, were not acquired by Treliving. The above guys, plus Gio, Backlund. Now, he did resign each one and he has failed to move them out. So on that basis, fair enough.

Well if Flames actually commit to a rebuild, then the next two drafts after should be easier to scout for with their lottery picks...

Ownership stepping in and pushing for a quick fix is the last thing this franchise needs.

Bite the bullet. Rebuild.

I see there’s a community relations job opening for Boston Pizza in Ottawa. I think Brad should leverage his dad for a job and stay in Ottawa. Everyone would be better off this way.

People were right to be wary of the Treliving hire, the guy is a dud. This brand of hockey is unwatchable.

Peters brand hockey was pretty fun to watch. Not so sure about Sutter brand hockey especially with a team incapable of playing like that.

Peters hockey was fun until the trade deadline. Not so fun after.

Love Darryl Sutter as a Coach; in my opinion he was a terrible General Manager - I hope that if Treliving gets fired that Sutter is not back in charge
