Can confirm Pospisil suffered a torn MCL and MPFL in his collision with Laval forward Yannick Veilleux on Sunday.
I'm told his knee will not require surgery and he's been given an estimated recovery time of 4-6 weeks.

He'll be going in for shoulder surgery on Thursday to address a nagging issue.

Honestly given how bad that injury looked this is a miracle best case scenario for Pospisil avoiding surgery

Not at this point. We should probably hear something before tomorrow's game, which starts at 5:00.

So is this a career altering type of injury? Not sure if he was on track to make the NHL but knees can be hard to bounce back from.

Posposil appeared promising. He is a long-shot, for sure, but he possesses NHL skills, and it looked like he might be ready for a look soon.

We have NHL ready prospects but our organization continues to go dumpster diving to fill out some of the vacant bottom 6 spots.

TBF its the equivalent of one based on the shortened 28 game season.

Unlikely. The injury is less severe than feared.

Pospisil was just starting to show some offensive upside in the pros, so definitely unfortunate timing, but he should bounce back.

He still likely tops out as a bottom six guy, but he's very much a Sutter type player.

I would not say that any of the Flames's prospects looked poised to step into the NHL in the offseason. Most of them had only played only a handful of games in 2020, and in the case of Phillips he had finished the season coming back from an injury. Sending them to the AHL out of camp was the right thing to do.

I’m not talking about just this year but other ones too. Due to the circumstances I would agree that all of them starting in the AHL was the way to go, but surely we should give them a shot. Some of them need to be rewarded a game or two for their efforts. Pospisil was one of them.

That suspension makes matters worse. Someone (probably Pospisil) will go after him for retribution because of the skinny suspension. Just asking for trouble.

No, suspended for the length of time the injured player is out PLUS 5 games.

So taking out a guys knee is only twice as bad as using an obscene gesture?

In five years the Flames have graduated six prospects to the NHL, and have had seven play games in that time. I don't really think it is so imperative that a player like Posposil needed to play NHL games now, especially since he has only within the last couple weeks looked like he may have turned a corner. The only player in Stockton that looks like he has nothing left to prove at that level is Matthew Phillips, and there are other contributing factors as to why he has not yet been recalled.
