Default What would you give up for Eichel?

Rumors suggest he want's out of that nightmare in Buffalo, I'm sure they would rather keep him but if he insists what as a Flames fan would you be comfortable to give? keep in mind it would be a bidding war for his services but also remember he has a $10m cap hit.

I personally would do any two roster players(hopefully one is Monahan), Zary and a 1st.

This team needs star power in a worst way

Because the Flames don’t have Stajan or Brouwer to throw in, to make salaries work,

(Gaudreau or Monahan) + Bennett?

Monahan's got to go for me. Monahan, Bennett, Zary, 2nd

I think we need to hold on to this year's first.

Gaudreau 50% retained ( Buffalo could then trade him to a contender), Monahan, and a 1st. This core needs a shakeup. Now is the time to trade Johnny before his ntc kicks in.

Not a chance. It might not be enough.

Sadly, you may be right, a total purge from top to bottom may still not be quite enough.

That isn't even close to getting it done...honestly none of these are

Eichel would be a nice add for sure. Though, I just cannot see how Eichel would be any happier playing in Calgary a whole lot more than Buffalo. Yes, he doesn't have a choice if a deal was made, however, it would still be a concern in my opinion.

Yup. We want a gamebreaker, that might be roughly the price we'd pay for one.

Feel free to absolutely blast me on this one but in order to somewhat mitigate the assets required going Buffalo’s way, what if we helped with their Skinner problem?

Tkachuk (7.0) + Kylington (0.787) + Bennett (2.55) + Ryan (3.125) + Pelletier + 1st + 2nd

Eichel (10% retained = 9.0) + Skinner (50% retained = 4.5)

Ryan is just added for cap purposes. Cap outgoing would be 13.46. Cap incoming would be 13.5.

Now this is an extremely risky trade as Skinner has looked horriawful for the last 18 months but he is on the right side of 30 and has put up 50+ points 5 times and 30+ goals 3 times, so we know the skill is there. He can also play the right side as a left shot.

Most importantly this gives Gaudreau a speedy, elite Center that could turn both guys into 100+ point players. This also bumps Monahan down to line 2 which would give the Flames a great 1-2 punch down the middle.

Now you’d also be waving the white flag on this season since Eichel is out for the foreseeable future.

I don’t know, just a thought.

If we have to strip down the team to acquire Eichel, we’d be about as competitive as Buffalo. I’m sure Eichel would love that.

I think it would have to be Tkachuk as the main piece going the other way. Neither Monahan or Gaudreau makes sense for Buffalo, not enough term left to justify acquiring them. They would lose both to free agency almost certainly.

You haven't, he doesn't.

The correct answer to this is: whatever it takes...if you think they can still win.

If the Flames still want to compete they need to both change the current core and bring in star players. At this point, I'm not sure there is anything that can save this team for this year and most likely next. Getting Eichel would help but I don't think it would help enough. I would focus my efforts on Cozens and pieces for the future.

Whatever pieces your fanbase 100% would not want to give up are the pieces you'd have to trade. Your untouchables.

How often has an elite centreman who is only 24 and should be entering his prime get traded? Sabres won't give him away for scraps and a 1st.

I think it would take a package of:
- Monahan or Lindholm
- Hanifin or Andersson
- Pelleteir or Zary
- 1st

I'd imagine they'd be looking at a C to replace Eichel, but maybe a winger like Tkachuk would intrigue them as well. I think they'd only have interest in Gaudreau if they were bringing him in to play [I]with[I] Eichel

Nothing that another team couldn't beat.

Especially some of these proposals.
