I don’t know how he scores from that position on the rush all the time. The goalie is set, there’s usually no screen. It’s at an angle, so less net. His release must be very deceptive.

Did Friedman not pick the Flames over the Grease (among others) as the most up and coming out of the Canadian division? During one of the intermissions in last nights game there was some roundtable project your winners across various categories and I thought Elliot went with Calgary as the team to look out for.

-Could be somewhat off on the context as I only half caught it.

Sort of. He said that he thought they would be the most improved over the second half. I didn't understand him to mean from this that they were his pick to win the Division.

In fairness, I remember the media praising him during the Cup run, and rightfully so. But when he was putting up insanely good seasons, and taking out his own trash on a regular basis, it was ho-hum as far as I remember from media. They clung to their stars of yesteryear.

I'll never get over the fact that Iggy is not in the NHL 100, and I can't help to think that the lack of media spotlight during his career maybe led to the omission.

I moved from Ontario to Calgary towards the end of the 2003-04 regular season and had no idea what all the fuss was about this local hero Jarome Iginla. I wasn’t dialled in on the NHL 24/7 at the time but watched every HNIC and barely heard a peep about Iginla and he was leading the NHL in goals!

He never started to get any legit national coverage until he kicked the doors down in the 2004 playoffs.
