At least the Flames didn't lose 9-0

I think this is spot on, and the thing Flames fans really need to keep in mind.

Even if they can marshal up some nice wins against division rivals here and there, and even if they can squeak into the playoffs, there is really no objective reason to think that this group has the capability to advance past the second round, or would not simply get crushed again by a team like Colorado.

Of course, there's always the chance of a Cinderella run like 2004, but then you're literally hoping for a fairy tale to come true.

No matter how this season turns out, I hope the Flames are very active in exploring big moves in the off-season. The team needs a new leader on the ice - ideally someone who can take the offence on his back from time to time and will the team to score. If they have to move a couple of pieces to acquire one of higher quality, I'm all for it.

Pretty weird game honestly. Everything was ending up in the back of the net. Let's see how they respond Friday.

When he says this team isn't mature enough, he's not wrong.

He was constructive with his comments saying we have to play a certain way. And he's right that we don't have the firepower to compete.

Lazy penalties and poor play defensive cost us. We weren't focused like we were in the last 3 games.

Sutter has a good handle on this team and will have them ready for Toronto.

Finally it's nice to have a coach that reads his team well and knows how to get them focused where they should be.

I went and watched Gaudreau’s two interviews today, before and after the game and then the Giordano and Tkachuk one just now.

The body language is so poor and weird and disconnected kinda, everything about them... there’s something wrong here. Very strange. Can’t quite put my finger on it. But these guys just don’t look like they give a ####.

They all just seem so done with it all.

The way they responded to the Kahun was almost a curse. The idea that they will trade chances with the Oilers will not end in their favour. McDavid and Draisatl
will execute when you give them looks. The key is to not give them looks and exploit their lazy defensive play.

Changes of scenery could be good for all parties.

Gotta love Darryl calling it like it is.

Once this team realizes they are not an offensive powerhouse and will need to work hard every night to win is the only way this core will ever find success.

Flames didn’t have a great night but neither did Markstrom.

Oilers scored 7 goals on what was an expected goals against of 2.32. Sure some of those were bad breakdowns but literally every breakdown ended up in back of the net.

Need more from everyone including Markstrom next game.

Love when the poster from my signature (a post made in 2013) crawls out of the woodwork
