This was the penalty, Backlund came in and knocked Russell over.
Lucic accidentally highsticked McDavid right before this but it was missed.

It definitely wasn't the crosscheck that was the penalty, it was in the corner. The ref had his hand up before that crosscheck. Still not sure what it was though.

McDavid is less dangerous on a set powerplay than on a rush.

Yeah that’s bad on Sportsnet, the actual penalty happened in the corner. Lucic was on the ground, and Backlund hit a dude standing next to McDavid.
The play in the neutral zone was not the penalty.

I am beyond done with game management. The fact that ref thinks you can interfere with the puck carrier is fire worthy.

I thought I saw the refs arm up during the Oilers breakout, but Hrudey showed a weak crosscheck replay

Good but the Flames stopped moving the puck up with pace and reverted back to their old game for about a minute and it cost them a goal.
