I think both fighting and heads shot will be be banned, or treated more severely. Eventually.
And this coming from a guy who used to buy all the Rock 'em Sock 'em tapes as soon as they came out. Loved watching scraps as a kid. But as time goes on and you realize what those punches are doing to those players' brains I'm at the point where I see a lot more negative than positive coming from those fights now. Mix in a few more lawsuits and the days of a 'good old scrap' are not for long.
I see the league moving towards the international hockey rules of any head shot, even those unintentional, will be penalized harsher, like automatic 5 and a game.
These are human's brains. This won't go on forever, just for our entertainment.

Headshots going uncalled like that are exactly why fighting is still relevant in hockey. Otherwise it's just ppl getting run and slew footed all over the place.
Honestly, the frequency level of fighting in the NHL today is about as balanced as it can be asked for.
Refs need to be better ,head injuries should fall under Toronto jurisdiction in game like a missed goal( the blow the horn and stop play). Even then, that should be absolutely a live wire direct feed call from NHLHQ.
That's the only way to keep it accountable while eliminating fighting. Otherwise this is it.
And again, play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Khaira didn't have to headshot Kylington, even at speed the arm didn't have to go up. That was dirty AF. Khaira answered the bell and took his cumupance. That shot by Ritchie isn't one you see in 100 fights in the NHL, thats was an anomaly .
Godspeed and heal up Khaira.

Apart from the tired "virtual signaling" nonsense, there is no proof that fighting polices the game in any fashion. Players are still roughing it up and pushing the line after the hit, which wasn't intentional in the first place.
You want to get him back? Do it in-game without punching a human being in the head.
You'll never convince me fighting is needed tactically in the modern NHL, especially with everything we know about CTE and the measures the NHL is taking to curb that in the structural bones of the game.
