No need to dress overly tough - Kassian out, so all they have is Khaira and Nurse. And Smith I guess.

Darryl said that first period we played against the Oilers last time was the best period he’s seen of any team this season. Have to think he wants them to repeat that tonight.

He played well last time because the Flames didn't make him move laterally, which IMO is when he loses balance and falls on his tummy. If you let him just stand still and be big, he will block shots. He sucks at screen shots too, so lots of traffic. Bump him, Matty.

I am not sure what to make of that blurb from Sutter. He is famous for using statements like that to mess with other teams: In 2014 Jon Gibson was "the best goalie I have ever seen." A few days ago he called McDavid "the best player in the world."

Maybe he meant it. But I am willing to bet that this was part of a larger message.

Everyone needs to be as close to in the blue as possible.....F .....Smith and how tough he wants to come across as being.

I wanna win games and don't care how greasy it has to be to get it .

First POs I can remember Otto in, he was nose to nose with Messier and Messier kept backing up and backing up. Otto was a scary looking dude - still is.

Was the Yamamoto slew foot in the last matchup between these teams? Wouldn't mind seeing some retribution. As in, solid, hard and relentless body checks.

Huge test tonight. The Oilers are a step on the Canadiens IMO. Winning this game also puts the Flames 5 points back of the Oilers with two game in hand.

To me, it was Darryl building the team confidence and telling them they have the potential to be the best and that was an example.

Where McDavid has made strides in his defensive efforts this season, Raisaitl is picking up right where he left off. Guy could not care less about sacrificing some individual offence in exchange for winning.

Here's hoping he's bottom three in the league by the weekend.

If anyone ever catches McDavid, the way Tanev caught Turris last game, I think McDavid would die. Speed kills.

McDavid never cuts across at the blueline though, so it would have to happen in front of the net with the right defenceman coming in to support after he cuts by the left defenseman. I wish prime Denis Gauthier or Phaneuf were still with the team to make that happen.

That's a weird list. I mean, that's pretty good company to be in. A few first ballot hall of famers and some of the games best players. Weird stat.

When he signed the first time in the 02/03 season, I recall him prioritizing beating the Oilers the most. It's back when we'd miss the playoffs by a slim margin every year, and the Oilers owned us in the season series. He saw the BoA as a primary reason why the Flames weren't making the playoffs. I'd love to see a similar approach.

After losing the last 3 straight BoA's, if Flames get a W tonight, Sutter Mania is going to ramp up a whole other level.
In Darryl we trust

Yeah, all you have to do is look at the list of names, and the only sensible conclusion is that this stat is not accomplishing what they were hoping.

I know they complain a lot about Wheeler's D in Winnipeg. I also know they rely a lot on their great power play to win games. What's Winnipeg's ES ratio?

This is the more accurate statement for me.
