I understand the justified excitement regarding a new, very good coach and the dismissive remarks about our ongoing issues being the cores problem and not the coach.
I think Sutter will be a great coach for this team, there is no doubt there. I just need more than 2 games to have a renewed faith in the core of this team. I have been fooled by this core many times in the past. On my end I just need about a dozen games to see if Sutter can get this core fully engaged.
Don't want to be negative though. That was a great game, and they just had two huge wins. Go flames go!

So I like to think I helped by wearing my Monahan jersey tonight.
Next game I’ll wear Gaudreau.

Calgary pounded Montreal to the mat. That was a clinic by the Flames.

I don't mean any offence to the CP crew that has continually mentioned that coaching is overrated and that if they don't succeed under budget coaches they won't succeed under anyone, but that is so wrong.
This is what real coaching does. It takes a roster and makes it better than the sum of it's parts. I strongly feel that the anti-'try an elite coach' brigade was actually posters upset that this roster wasn't giving it it's all under crappy coaches. Almost bitter in wanting them to fail rather than see them succeed under proper guidance.

Pump the breaks a little. They have won 2 games and that's great. Ward also started with like a 6 game win streak.
Let's give it more than 2 games before we start telling everyone how wrong they were to call out this core.

It's been two games. I have very little faith that this core of players will carry it through. This is the same group that went 6-0 under the last coaching change.

Kylington. Is. Awesome.
Maybe he got a reset too, judging by tonight. I think he sees a way into the lineup as a regular under fresh eyes.

No question they have a long way to go but aside from the results the on ice performance is dramatically different. They weren't battling for every inch of ice under Ward. Hopefully they can keep up the pace for the rest of the season.

Man, Monahan looks like a completely different player under Sutter. I didn't have much hope in him being a difference maker, but he had a really good night tonight. Used his body, shielded the puck, and even potted a goal that wasn't a garbage goal. Yes, he did put in a garbage goal, but he also generated his own scoring chance by using his body. I hope we see more of this.
