So long as they keep winning I have no complaints about the weekly head coaching rotation.

Bennett killed penaltues in the entire 2016-17 season.

You are going to have to explain this one to me. The only way Montreal could be five games above 0.500 is if they had won five more games than they have lost.

They are 12-7-7, hence in NHL standings, they are .500 games above .500.

Most playoff teams are usually around 95 points minimum, or 13 games above .500.

I assume you are sarcastically referring to their 7 loser points, suggesting their real record is 12-14. Valid statement, but at the end of the day the NHL values OT loses as basically a tie.

Wasn't there a preseason video a couple years ago where Jankowski and Bennett are talking about how many SHGs they are going to score?

I am hoping the Matthew Tkachuk that we have seen the previous 2 seasons, shows up tonight. He has been lacklustre all year.

Go Flames.
Would love too see 4+ goals from the top two lines. Monahan, Gaudreau, Lindholm, and Tkachuk/

Let's go

Yes I remember as well. I believe Janko makes a comment that him and Sam will get a bunch of shorthand goals and Sam just shrugs it off

Yes, I was referring to the OT points as losses, because in discussions of "games above/below" .500 they are always treated as such.

But I think your reflection of the NHL system is wrong: it has never been based on "games," rather "points," and because of that you cannot simply ignore the third column. So, the Canadiens have earned a possible 31/52 points, for a 0.596 points-percentage. The number of wins they have over their losses is completely irrelevant because of what is going on in the third column, and because of how the NHL seeds teams for the playoffs.

It was ahead of the 2017-18 season, and Jankowski finished that year with a ridiculous number of short-handed goals.

Tkachuk, Johnny, Lindholm, Monahan all have to play much better tonight. You know the Habs are going to be fired up. If Leivo, Bennett, and Ryan are our best players again there is no way we will win this game. Marky needs to have strong game too and make some big, timely saves. Go Flames!!!!

I also think we'll see a breakout of the star players like Monahan, Gaudreau and Tkachuk under Darryl Sutter.
Could be a big game today with a few goals.
6-1 Flames!

Better be the same lineup and lines to start the game. Players need to grow together while adjusting to Sutter.

I'd like to see Bennett switch to number 39.

93 hasn't done him any favours here.

Oh that's so good to hear, that was my goal! It was initially a lot busier with some more retro elements but I decided that less is more. I think it finds a really good balance.

Bennett’s father was the Gilmour fan from his Toronto days, hence the 93 number. He told Sam to play like Gilmour.

Any discussion of the NHL points system in relation to wins/losses and .500 is pointless I have concluded.

The NHL is afraid to declare an actual loser to games tied after 60 minutes. Which is just lame. Give me one winner and one loser very night.

In baseball you can lose 12-0 or 4-3 in 17 innings. Both count the same.

In the NHL, we need to make the losing fans feel better about a good effort.
