6 players is okay, but 7 is too much.

To be fair, that Nesterov penalty was an easy call. But some of you are right, they let Montreal get away with a few that should've been called as well.

Yeah, that is a call everyday but Montreal should have had one

Sutter likes a strong PK, they did well the first time out.

Good effort in the period.

We are offensively inept.

Way better period. Good positive puck movement and not a ton of the d-to-d passes slowing things down. Was the better team out there by a big margin.

Sutter will be happy with that period. Will stress getting to more dangerous spots on the opening PP.

Already sense the team will play with higher compete under this coach.

But nows the first real test... stringing two solid periods...

It's nice to see Flames doing dump and chase properly by actually chasing. They do it while skating assertively enough to have the intention of getting the puck back.

Also, feels appropriate for Sutter's first game back to be with the Blasty jerseys; with him being a farmer, and it being part of the unis when he first joined.

Looked like a more organized team. That's a positive. They do appear faster but with these guys it's about seeing that consistently throughout a game. 40 to go let's see if this play holds up.

Agreed. There were no real heart-stopping moments on the PK where the Flames were scrambled. Montreal was mainly kept to moving the puck around the outside with no second-chances.

Sutters teams are known for high possession metrics. They're already playing with the puck significantly more just by rising to the occasion on every 50/50 battle and chasing down pucks.

CGY need to keep the skating up and not play afraid to make mistakes. Just go and trust each other.

The energy and work ethic was excellent this period.

Playing with speed and confidence is making a huge difference.

If they play like that for the next two periods, will it be the first full 60-minute effort of the season?
