I just finished The Night Manager which was from 2011. It had some strong actors like Olivia Coleman, Tom hiddlestone and Hugh Laurie. Like all John le carre stories, it dragged along with some implausible coincidences. Still, well done enough to post about here.

I also finished Wonder Wheel which is a woody Allen movie with Kate winslet and Justin timber lake, amongst others. It is set on Coney Island in the 1950s. Definitely intended for character study and some interesting camera shots, but the payoff at the end is intentionally not there.

That was a solid mini series. I really enjoyed it.

Had Orine recommend to me “500 MPH Storm”
Nonsensical plot, brutal acting, utterly terrible dialogue, endless stock footage, canned “movie score” music that doesn’t stop, and probably the worst special effects you’ll ever see.

 Highly recommended for a laugh!

that's why I love those disaster movies.
Prime has tons of them, and I try to watch one a week.

Recommendation - The Goes Wrong Show. Perfect family fun entertainment. The premise is that a theatre group are putting on a live show and well, everything goes wrong from forgetting lines to missed cues to missing props and badly constructed sets. The gags are absurd and silly and sometimes very clever. Your kids will love it. 6 episodes, 30 minutes each. Each episode is self contained from a murder mystery to a courtroom drama and so on.

Damnit Amazon, I was slowly working my way through Married with Children. I had about ten more episodes before I finished the series and they pulled it from Canadian access some time this past week. I'm pretty sure I saw it in my continue to watch list the other day but I was watching some other things as well. I went to watch it tonight and it is gone.

It's on the CTV app if you have access to it.

Watched Greenland, thought it was great. Proper length, maybe a tad long, but it never seemed to drag. Reminds me of a throw back 90's action/disaster type movie almost, but with some more 'realism' and actually not much 'action'. Realism coming from the strong family perspective, no clue about how real all the science is nor do I care as that doesn't actually feel to be the focus of the movie... As a parent of young kids I was very much sucked in and empathizing with the lead actors.
It's not winning any awards but for a Friday night Popcorn movie that is 'free' on your already paid subscription, highly recommend.

Spoiler for the ending:

Yeah, I thought Greenland was ok. Gerard Butler usually brings the goods and he did alright in this one. Not a great actor but he commands your attention when he's on screen, I find.
I agree with Lantern, the ending would have been better in his version.

More of a music recommendation than movie but prime just added Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets.
Drummer for Pink Floyd plus some talented musicians play live show consisting only of pre-DSOTM stuff.

It’s also on streaming services for listening only.

Highly, highly recommended for any PF fans. They do an amazing job of their live renditions of those early hits. One of my favourite live albums of the last few years.

For all the attention Waters got for his recent DSOTM and Wall tours, they really lacked the true musical aspect of PF and were almost exclusively about the big budget theatrics and Waters typical ego fuelled self indulgence.

This felt down to earth and a true old school concert that highlighted the reason why these guys got famous in the first place. New appreciation for the awesomeness of Syd Barrett.

			I Care a Lot
Rosamund Pike can play a villain. Between this and and Gone Girl she is developing a portfolio of truly terrible characters. There was a great idea of a movie here, and a good setup, but...

We may cancel our Prime Video subscription. It’s harder to use that Netflix, we’re finding less content of interest and between Netflix and Shaw Video on Demand there are lots of programs we’re interested in.

I don't even factor Prime into our entertainment budget. We keep prime strictly for the free shipping, the fact that it comes with a streaming service is just a bonus

I used to as well, but I just let my subscription lapse. Amazon is eating up the business of smaller retailers and it's just too easy to buy crap you don't need. I'm wasting less money having to think about and research purchases.

The one thing I miss is the free monthly Twitch subscription you get.
