So many weird parts of the off-season.
Why did Tree take so long to make a coaching decision, only to bring back Ward and then sack him midway? It was weird at the time and it's weirder now.
And I also believe that there was a legit desire to change the roster.
Johnny and Monahan's days are numbered. If not during this season then in the off-season.

Ward was fired what, 3 days ago? This is still the same fragile group as they were under Ward. It will take a bit of time to change things so I'm not going to sit here and get too angry.

I think the early power play slowed their game, as well. Took the urgency out of the game.
The Flames controlled the play the first 10m IMO. But the Senators had more bite to their game and once they got rolling, they sense Calgary playing weak and pushed harder.

If Darryl can't turn this group into a respectable hockey club no one can. If he can't that means buh bye core so long Treliving.

They are losing to one of the worst teams in the NHL. You would think this group would come out and show their new head coach, particularly THIS head coach that they have some pride and accountability.
Nope.

The only perplexing part is we keep inexplicably giving the players a pass. It’s the same inconsistent players.

I wouldn't make declarations now about what will or won't happen under Sutter.
These are the direction-less, identity-less Flames still.
A lot will change under Sutter. A lot of evaluations will be made. Game plans will be distinct with no grey area. Roles will be given. And some won't make the cut under the new regime.
This game is just a sendoff to the BS we've had to endure for some time.
So just enjoy that fact.

I think we need to accept that the Flames are also one of the worst teams in the NHL.

Auston Watson always looks overwhelmed when he has to fight a man.

Its not real yet. Not for a few weeks under Sutter at least.
This is similar to the last time Sutter took over. IIRC they didn't make the playoffs that first season as it was more than halfway done. It wasn't until the following year they came out the gate and struggled, Sutter bagged them, and the rest is history.
I can see this happening again. Without a few key parts included. Namely JG, Monny, and yes maybe Geo.

Soo, when is Monahan's dad starting his new position as skills coach with the Sabres?
