Think the first goal killed them. They were dominating to that point and then Oilers get a lucky one and it’s 1-1. Game was more even after that then in the third to me they looked like they ran out of gas.

Flames looked tired after playing a more intense style they weren’t used to playing for a long time. And McDavid and Draisaitl took over and had more room against a tired Flames team.

Think the Tkachuk and Lucic fights hurt a bit too. Had to play down two forwards for about 8 minutes of game time.

Kylington should really have dressed too. Nesterov didn’t look good at all IMO.

The final two minutes of the game is exactly why Sutter was bought in for. The team played waaaaay to tentative and reactive, and lacked the pace and intensity that they had in the first period to do anything. If you have to think of what to do, rather than know what to do, you're already too late.

The Oil won because of they have a generational talent in MacDangit. Nothing for them to be proud of. But our top players do not play like one. #23, #19, #11in particular. Tkachuk and Backlund took a stupid penalty and it changes the momentum of the game. Sutter needs to bag skate these three on Tuesday

Didn't like Monahan's game at all tonight. Seemed invisible. Backs was not his usual McDoofus-stopping self.

Decent game, too many mistakes and they just stopped skating in the second. Bad conditioning?

Toronto masterfully shut down McDavid, put all their effort into keeping him off the score sheet didn't worry about much else. Didn't need to. Tonight, Flames did their usual spread the wealth around. Failed as usual.

Played not to lose after the first 20 minutes as we have seen under Ward this season. Darryl has a lot of work to do but they need to win tomorrow badly or their margin of error is going to be small to make the playoffs.

If anyone thinks Sutter is going to be able to squeeze out another goal out of this pop gun offence, you have rocks in your head. We simply do not have enough talent.

McDavid masks so many issues. Where would that team be without him, honestly

You could see it going downhill when the Flames started throwing the puck high into the neutral zone. They need a lot of work on playing together so there’s a decent option for a pass. They also looked like they were gassed in the third. Back to the gym!

Had a bad feeling when they didn't cash in on the PP at the end of the 1st.

Was right to feel that way.

Nevertheless, a decent effort and no doubt Sutter will get more out of them.

Nordstrom hurt just when he was starting to look valuable.

The broadcast wasn't great as many in the GT wouldn't stop reminding us, but they are justified in talking about McDavid. He's that good, and they are in the entertainment business after all. I don't enjoy it, but can't fault them.

Did some of you expect a 180 when Sutter hasn’t even met them in person or run a practice? They showed more HP than normal but need to go for 60?

God I frikking hate the Oilers.

They've been in a win one/lose one pattern for a while now, so if that continues then tomorrow should be win...hopefully. Then Sutter can officially come in and work these losers into shape, thank god.

McDavid had so much room on the last goal that it's embarrassing.

It's on the players, but that passive hockey on defensive zone entries is a relic from Ward's coaching.

Even WITH him, playoffs in 1/6 years.

That's a testament to how bad they truly are, to weigh him down just enough to accomplish nothing at the end of the year perennially.
