I recall the story from back when Darryl Sutter was interviewed for the Head Coach position the first time with the Flames. He had compiled a binder filled with player evaluations of the Flames organization.
Not as easy as you make it out to be. A lot of it is genetics.
Some people have slow twitch muscle fibers...some have fast twitch.
Yes, you can improve skating style but it is very very difficult to overcome genetic deficits.
Right, but if you’re Already physically gifted enough to be a $7M hockey player at age 21, and your dad is a legend in the game, and your brother is also a 1st round pick, you’ve probably got the genes.

None of the three are known for speed. Speed was my point.
That is genetic, IMO.

Did you watch Keith Tkachuk play? He definitely does not have the genes.

Is it too early to think about a succession plan? Should Sutter get an assistant that could take over and continue his plan (if things work out)?
Let's see some success before we worry about succession.
But, if I had to pick, I'd definitely choose Roman Roy. Considering the speech he gave to the Hearts (or was it the Hibs?) he just might be the best coach since Crispy.

It may well be, but it didn’t stop Keith from being dominant. It hasn’t really stopped Matthew from being effective either, this weird season not withstanding.
Like Jagr said to Treliving “lots of guys go to the wrong places fast. I go to the right places.”

My initial reply was based on the ability to improve skating , specifically speed.
Big fan of Tkachuk.
