We'll soon have the best players!
You disrespect Daryl on CP, you get banned. Lol.

But seriously, these are professional hockey players. They play hockey for a living. There is NOTHING wrong with accountability.

Even the reporters and media are going to end up making sure their shirt is ironed a bit crisper and their posture is a bit straighter going forward.

If the Flames have a reputation as a 'party' team, this makes a ton of sense.

Darryl went into LA and made it work with players there who had the same reputation if I remember correctly.

The farm in Viking is a certified NHL Covid bubble. Gary pulled some strings.

He didn’t have one. But the next year he had Huselius. Hmmm

This sounds very plausible. Also explains apparent firing after a win, in reality it was probably after the first Ottawa loss.

Ward may have known and agreed to it. He seems like a standup guy. Or they may have felt an interim in the games they felt were critical against what should have been easy points was a gamble.

On another note, would anyone here have preferred a different hire? COVID obviously makes it difficult to take on personnel living in a different country.

Boudreau probably lives in the States, and I have no idea where Gallant lives. I guess they could've had an interim coach before a non-national became eligible. Of course, the last time that happened, the "interim" became "permanent" became "fired."

Sometimes things just feel right, ya know? I'm super happy about this.

Darryl is the guy who gets the most out of the guys he already has. And I truly believe this is a talented group, and with the right motivation they can make some noise.

LMAO at the boomer bitching about celebratory memes.

Also, damn the thanks limitation!

Not me. Boudreau is good but too soft on his players and Gallant just isn’t as good as some people think, and you have to wonder why he’s been unceremoniously turfed from a couple non-failing teams.

People trash the elite coaches like Torts, AV, Sutter, etc because they have been around long enough to show their warts. But the reality is these guys have been around so long because they are really good coaches. The Flames need to get off the coaching carousel and hiring someone of this caliber is the way to do it.

Sutter won two cups with a similarly structured team and he did it in the modern era. He insists on structure, hard work, and consistency. Three things this team desperately needs. We may suffer a player casualty or two, but that is just trimming the fat.

I wish the Flames made this change earlier, but its better late then never. Great pick up in my opinion.

This is great news imo.

Thank you to Geoff Ward. Great guy I'm sure but it just was too much for him.

Absolutely no shame in being a fantastic assistant coach and just not a head coach.
