I'm almost afraid because of his last interview. He sounded on the verge of a brain aneurysm.

Yes, yes it can. But if it does, then at least we know we gave this group every chance in the world to make it work. And should it come to that, we can confidently blow it up and blow it up good.

I was reading the story about Walter Gretzky passing away on the CBC this morning and when I got to the bottom of the article I glanced at the headlines on the right, I was like what..what..what and started laughing cause I couldn't believe it.

I had a weird feeling that something was going to happen after this 4 game series with the Senators especially if the Flames would have lost the game last night which they didn't.
I feel bad for Geoff Ward in a way cause I don't think that maybe he shouldn't have been put in that position in the first place.
To many good players and big contracts on this team and you need a good coach as experienced as Darryl Sutter to make a good evaluation and see what you really have as a team.

I saw this on facebook, first thing this morning, and had to check the date to make sure it wasn't a memory. Sutter Hockey checks all sorts of boxes for me.

It's weird that some people seem to think he would have done so already. The news broke in the middle of the night.

I know it’s a pandemic so they can’t sell tickets but if the Flames could offer a stream of Darryl’s first couple of practices, I would pay money to watch that. Mic him up and let the boot camp begin.

I am guessing that Darryl Sutter would veto this idea out of hand.

I’m surprised by how many posters are talking about Bennett’s role under Darryl, for me it’s Gaudreau’s role that is most curious. How will Sutter utilize a guy who doesn’t physically engage in puck battles? Ya Gaudreau is our most elite offensive catalysts, but this team will likely place a premium on defensive acumen and role/playing time will correspond. Will be very interesting...

Sutter retired due to injuries at 28 and became head coach of the 'Hawks in his early 30s. He's been a coach for so long that everyone assumes he's older than he is. Wasn't he in his early 40s when he took over here?
Face like a baseball mitt doesn't help either.

Marian Gaborik was a key player in one of the Kings' cup runs and I think Johnny back checks more than Gaborik did

Well, it's not like this was an unconfirmed leak on Twitter. The team was able to put out a press release in the middle of the night, so it's reasonable to inquire as to whether the GM had made a public comment of any kind, even if just to say "I'd like to thank Geoff Ward for his service. I will be speaking to the media tomorrow at 11am."
