Darryl coming in on Saturday with the Oilers coming off 3 embarrassing losses.

It has all the makings to be a great game.

So I will expect an absolute turd.

Going full reverse retro tonight.
I am more hopeful now about the Calgary Flames than I was when I woke up today, and that’s a good feeling.

Such a great end to the night.

Can’t wait to see what a true top tier coach can do behind the bench.

Would be interesting to see if we see any switch in assistants as the season progresses, or in the off-season.

I'm so happy I could cry. My thoughts:

1)There will be moves to make this team bigger, and grittier. Sutter's system requires a physically punishing, frustrating defensive game, with quick transition. And that's a good thing. It won't be a complete overhaul right away, or anything like that, but there will be changes.

2)The offensive numbers may dip a bit, but the goalies are going to look like absolute stalwarts, and of course-more wins.

3)I have faith that this is a Treliving move, but Sutter doesn't seem like a Treliving guy. I'm going to wait until the press conference tomorrow, to see what kind of look he has in his eyes-we will know for sure by his demeanor.

4)It will be nice to see a team that's hard to play against. It will be nice to see a team that works hard all the time. It will be nice to see a system at work, with all the right parts in all the right places.

5)Please keep him out of the GM's chair.

I’ve been pretty down on the team lately and this has given me a reason to be excited for a Flames game. It feels like ages since I’ve felt this way.

I’m actually excited to watch this team again.

Protip: don't take anything I say as verifiable fact unless I source it. Kinda like you shouldn't take anything said on the internet as pure fact unless it is credibly sourced. Anything said should be taken as opinion unless otherwise stated.

"Well, you don't know this for sure". Of course not, I'm a random putz on a message board. Maybe let's talk about a theory or opinion. Maybe someone who disagrees provides a rebuttal that generates sincere discussion.

I'm dumbfounded I got this kind of response to my post. Yet, at the same time, I get an unsubstantiated inflation to my credibility and importance.

I am unlikely to wield this in a responsible fashion.

Wow color me shocked and excited. Does this mean Bennett will start hitting again? The boys will start trying again?

Overtime's pretty okay. No Robert though. I'm sad. I was looking forward to his take on the Flames re-hiring Sutter.

He’s a guy who has spent years without a good coach

And he is among many others
Yeah I'm not the biggest Bennett fan, but why wouldn't anyone be excited for him right now? Players react differently to different coaches. If Sutter can energize his game, isn't that a good thing? He's a free asset. He's just sitting there. If Sutter can get him going in the right direction that's good for all of us. I hope it works out.

Yeah, me too. Pleased that he will have a real coach

But this team has had #### structure and played an inexplicably slow game

Underachievement across the board

I wish the best for Sam but it should be way, way down on the list of issues of interest for people who like well played hockey more than TMZ

I am absolutely curious if this was Treliving's idea, or ownership's.
It was Darryl’s. Sutter called Ward and told him he’s out. Murray and Treliving just stood there and said “You heard the man!”

^agreed, topfive

Poor Darryl, stuck at home in a pandemic and seeing only Oilers and Flames on SNW

Can’t blame him

I just wanted the GAF factor to go up. If Darryl does that, I'm happy. This team needs a kick in the arse. They've needed it for a long time.

Cant believe Kirsch made Steinberg go off the air at 1 AM. I honestly could have listened all night.

Listening to the commentary and refreshing CP at 1 AM, during a Covid lockdown. Exactly what is needed!
