I'm seeing alot of Oilers fans on Twitter laughing like they did when the Flames signed Markstrom. They're saying it didn't go so well the first time but they forget as a coach he was fine. It was his time as a GM that eventually got ugly.

If so, its simply untrue. It was always shared blame, but the only thing that kept changing was the coach. Still is.
I think Sutter being the guy can make a world of difference overall, but i have no doubt there are other changes that have to occur before this club can have playoff success.
And honestly i didnt think they would get Sutter to come back. He is a game changer.

And then I said he has a 3 year shelf life as coach and lo and behold, 3 year deal.

Gallant is probably a better coach for this team. Tre needs to make the team bigger in order for Sutter’s effectiveness. No way this team can play Sutter hockey every game and into the playoffs. Team is too fragile with the players they have.

I've had beefs with this team/core for years with inconsistency and a low GAF factor from game to game. Don't care as much about the X's/O'/systems as others, but that's fine. Just want to see an honest effort.
Just wanted these players to give a crap every game and play like they actually care. If Sutter is the guy to do that, I'm a happy camper. Roster still needs work in the offseason, but this is a very weak division so if the Flames can at least make the playoffs with arguably the best goalie in the division at least it makes things interesting.
But as Jiri said, keep him away from the GM chair. Some good moves, but at the end it was a mess. Hopefully he and Tre can work together to build an actual contender.
Saturday just got a lot more interesting!
