The last 2 days were bliss, Oilers get curb stomped, Canucks lose. Unfortunately that hockey happiness had to end and the Flames eventually had to play again.

Go Flames Go, we know the players will give it their all, the coach will have a top notch game plan and the GM will be working the phones feverishly trying to improve the team.

Markstrom back at practice and the lines back to what they were early in the season. Bennett probably gets scratched in favour of Ryan. If Markstrom starts, Flames win 3 or 4-0.

I think I am just fine seeing this team just lose every game so the brain dead franchise finally determine a change in direction is needed.

Regardless of what happens tonight, this team is going to get embarrassed by draisatl and McDavid again on Saturday so who gives a F.

Come on. This team is way too inconsistent and the Oilers are way too bad for you to know this.

Maybe. But after getting embarrassed by Toronto, the top guys in Edmonton are going to be flying. Remember the last time this garbage team faced a revved up McDavid and Co.

Flames will win convincingly then get absolutely curb stomped by the Oilers Saturday because that’s what they do.

Why weren’t they flying last night after getting embarrassed twice. Were they waiting for the magic three embarrassments?

Take some lessons from Toronto, absorb the first minute, shadow McDavid, put a ton of pucks at Smith and make him move and pressure their hapless D.

because Toronto is an elite team, the flames are among the worst. They are arguably better at every single position, with the exception with maybe goaltending, but even there the gap is very minimal.

Leafs have a better player playing at every single position (1st line LW/C/RW to the 4th line LW/C/RW, same can be said about the D, at least it's closer there). Throw in a coach who was always considered to be a head coach in the TO market (ie. a REAL coach), and let's not pretend the flames can do anything the leafs can.

Honestly, I think that the Flames are way underachieving and the Leafs are way over achieving. I think that the Leafs will go on a stretch where they lose quite a bit and the Flames will go on a stretch where they win quite a bit.

No way that Spezza, Thornton and even Simmonds (when he was healthy) are going to keep up at the pace that they are on. I will give the team credit as they seem to have figured out how to play team defense. That being said, let's see what happens when the unsustainable play from their bottom six goes in the the tank. They'll start taking more chances and the defensive flaws should come back. Plus I think for the Eastern teams the travel will eventually catch up with them. They just aren't used to it, though it is easier with staying in one city for a few nights.

As for the Flames, the exact opposite has happened. The 4th line, all 6 or 7 of them, have been a black hole. They only have 1 to 1.5 lines going at a given time. They have played a lot on the road already. While winning the division has likely sailed, I expect it to tighten up considerably.

I've been watching the projected division standings and they change quite a bit each day with all games being intra-divisional, so moreso than other years, it is still early.

I honestly don’t know if I should expect a blowout or a surprise good effort tonight. I guess both
