I’m saying he’s a good player and being on waivers only means roster moves/cap savings and has nothing to do with how good of a player he is.

Ryan is a dependable player defensively, good FO C , and a solid PKer.

He will be an improvement over Sam , who, in the three game set in Ottawa , was a nifty -3 with 3 shots and zero points.

I never once mentioned Bennett.

I’m just expressing the fact that Derek Ryan was bad this year before he got hurt and he is not a savior. He’s a 4th line centre who wakes up next to Father Time each morning. Derek Ryan will have no positive or negative impact on this team. He does not hit, he doesn’t forecheck hard, he doesn’t go to the net... all things we are severely lacking.

The Flames are also lacking lower 6 forwards who possess defensive acumen.

They are 21st in GA/G in the NHL .

Nordstrom, Dube and Ryan when he plays. Lucic has some but the foot speed is gone. And Dube is young enough to make plenty of mistakes.
