Hopefully the GM too. Then we'll get the riches of Don Maloney hockey.

This team is so fragile minded and that’s on the coaching staff and on the management. There is no reason this team should be a paper f***ing tiger but it’s what they are. Whether it was the 5 day break at the start of the year that pushed them off their rhythm... the all-star break in the division title year... or the year before with Gulutzan when our bye-week it stopped our 7 game winning streak... rolling over against the Ducks in 4... the Avs in 5 (in 4...) and on and on and on. Only to hear all the players say the right things... the cliche things... to just turn around and start the same viscous Jekyll and Hyde hockey this team is patently known for. I’m tired of watching fragile hockey... scared hockey... with this team it makes absolutely no sense but it is what it is and it’s time to start cutting loses and reloading.

I mean, it's basically now or never. I'm guessing it won't happen, as giving him the official HC job in the first place was a total joke and shows that management is fine with mediocrity.
I was too kind when I said Geoff Ward was the Canadian Tire Automotive center of coaches.
He's more like the dude with a Craiglist ad who will come to your place to work on your car, but you have to supply the tools.

Listening to the fan since 2000
10 of 11 coaches fired and none except Darryl was a head coach in the league again.

I just noticed no real activity in the "blow it up" and "Treliving needs to go threads" between the Flames win against the Sens on the 27th and the loss yesterday. However, this thread remained active in that period. It seems reasonable to me posters would be less likely to focus on blowing it up and removing the GM following a win (notwithstanding it is the lowly Sens). But the Ward commentary continued.
Is there anything to be made of that? Is it possible that the sentiments re: Ward now transcend wins and losses? When a fanbase continues to discuss removal of a Coach (or at least contribute to a Forum discussing it) following a win, is this a sign the ship has sailed? There is no turning back on feelings about Ward?
My take is that no matter what happens from here on out this season Flames fans will continue to blow the remove Ward trumpet. The only possible exception might be if the Flames start winning and fans see a complete reversal of coaching strategy that correlates with the winning. Highly doubt that will happen at this point - a fundamental change in strategy or a prolonged winning streak.

I'm not sure I can ever remember a time when it was so bad watching this team, and I can remember going back to the early 80's. We have more talent than what we should see on ice, but all these games where we score one goal and look terribad in the process are just unacceptable - or at least they should be. And I don't get it because there were a couple games, or periods of games at least, where we looked fantastic.
Coaches? Players? At this point I'd accept blowing it all up and starting over as it's not like the results could be any worse.

Were they talking about him to return as coach or GM?
God help us if it's the latter.

Coach.
I don't think Darryl even really wants to be GM again to be honest. Remember him saying something about that after he finished in L.A. , too much of an offseason commitment.

It did seem like the fire the coach discussion was a big part of the morning show today. I wonder if that is where this is headed?
I think Rhett nailed it when he was talking about how Darryl would be a good fit and what he has been able to do with teams that have great goaltending.
I honestly feel like Sutter is the guy. If he wins a round he has money guaranteed for next season as well but if the team loses in the first round or misses altogether it is a clean sweep of the management and coaching staff with new people being brought in.

Honestly, I'd be fine with Darryl being named GM and coach right now.
Back when Darryl was GM, he was a one man show. Now, he will at least inherit Tre's army of Assistant GMs to help him or better yet, keep him in check.
I'd keep Maloney around and tell him that he needs to be the devil's advocate on every decision Darryl makes. The problem with the management group as it is now is they are all friends and suffering from group think (seriously, James Neal???).
Darryl's GM tenure was ok until he lost his mind or got desperate in the final year. Prior to that, he made good trades and good signings.
One thing is certain, this coach killing core won't be pushing GM/coach Darryl around.

Say what you will about Darryl Sutters systems or style of play. The one thing that he does is demand accountability from his players.
If there's anything this team needs right now. It's that.

Darryl's god-awful drafting is one of the reasons why this franchise is asset poor.
He was not a good GM. He was a bad GM that made some good moves.
At least that's my view.
