Ward refuses to. This stinking losing system is staying in place as long as Ward is in charge.
Unless an immediate coaching change is made, this season is lost.

That's too long. 2 months is plenty for any man to go without a drink.
You've earned one being a fan of this team. Time to collect your reward for supporting ####ty hockey.

At least there’s no misconceptions about the group. You have your money goalie locked up so build from there. Would be nice if JG would give an honest answer about his intentions now cuz I’d love him to stay.

If almost every single player is having issues how can you not think coaching plays a role?
There are noted hard workers and character guys who look terrible under Ward and like they don't care.
Classic case if Ward forcing the team to do the wrong things over and over again, and it's finally after 80 games just crushing the players.

I actually think now is the time because I don't think you want to sign him for the money he's going to demand long term and trading him now probably maximizes the return. I think he's already close to his ceiling because his skating doesn't appear to be improving.

You'd be saying the same for Markstrom and others if they're playing with a Jekyll and Hyde team like the Flames.

The most Flames thing to do would be to fire Ward and promote Huska.

I think he is culprit number 1 as far as ignoring Ward from the start, for better or worse. Probably didn't help that Ward likely didn't like his antics with Muzzin either.
He knows he's here longer than Ward and it's a staredown.

It is so painfully obvious that we will never do it. Not that I think Sutter can turn this group into a true contender but he will separate the wheat from the chaff. Then get a new GM in the off-season and make decisions on who gets moved based on his observations of the room in the second half of the season. If anyone knows what you need in a locker room to be successful in the NHL it is Darryl Sutter.

The sad part about it is we all know Sutter would come back in a heart beat. The owners have to force Brad's hand. Sutter marks the end of Trelivings tenure.

It's probably better than nothing though but you can argue sticking with Ward may lead the team to a top 5 pick and they could probably use that to soften the blow of the necessary house cleaning.

A GM of a cap spending team wouldn't be doing their job if they let things go unchanged this week, after the last 10 games and multiple call outs from people in and around the organization.

that's my biggest concern...
That and he thinks he's a different player than what he is. Too many cute plays instead of playing hard nosed hockey. He's soft as baby #### at the moment.

Exactly. No way can we evaluate the players under this garbage coach. If Tre does that he has totally lost it.

A coach's salary doesn't count against the salary cap. Which is why it blows my mind that this ownership group is willing to spend to the cap consistently yet penny pinches when it comes to coaches.

This is most likely to be honest, and it's probably the right move too. Something has to change. Start with an interim gig for Huska to shake things up then get a proper coach in there.
No cheaping out. Unless you're blowing it up.

The Flames Wikipedia page is great right now... I'm too lazy to link it, taking after my team.

I think I’m at peace with the whole thing.
Seems to me like ownership has written the season off, and is just about minimizing additional cash outlay. No playoff revenue to be had, so just let things run their course, and deal with it in the offseason. I would think Tre has zero authority to make any personnel changes without manager approval at this point. They seem content to let Tre and Ward take all the heat.
I have zero proof of any of this, but it makes sense to me. For all we know, they could still be paying Peters as well. But it does seem clear that no changes are forthcoming.

Or may be Ward isn't smart enough to put together another system. Is this the system he used when he was in Boston? And he failed to realize the make up of the two teams are different?
