This team doesnt have confidence and the last thing it needs is below average goaltending. Players are upset at the goalie and rectify that by changing thier strategy to collapse down to protect any shots from getting through to the goalie.
That reverberates to the rest of the team for confidence and the forwards then don't get the same outlet or support from the d who are too worried about protecting its own net.
Nevermind how pissed they are for the goalie who has already let in two average ones who goes giftwrapping an easy goal.

Flames showed their true heart - or lack thereof - in the second. Completely dominated by Ottawa.
Having said that, if they had a shooter tutor in net it is probably a tie game.

Yeah you don’t like the goalie giving away freebies but the 15 minutes of play leading up to that didn’t deserve any better. Just a rough period all around.
0 pushback after either. Team is broken again.

Not a good period. The pattern is they play very weak in the offensive zone trying to set up one slot shot. Then they fail to forecheck effectively at all and it's all dump it and start the other team's breakout. All the fwds go against the boards and the opponent just comes out up the middle.
Once in their own zone they put pucks into their skates. Stop moving the puck and just give it away in bad spots. STOP DOING THAT.
Get in the offensive zone and get buzzing. Control the puck. Pass it hard, enough of these weak backhand flip passes.

Treliving has never made a major mid-season player change in his entire tenure and only fired a coach, Peters, for off-ice reasons.
I would bet a lot against any adjustments happening anytime soon.

This team is just broken, and I have no idea what they need to do to fix it.
They are so mentally weak it's embarrassing. They have no confidence, and as soon as things start to go sideways they just get worse and worse. Stupid mistakes, flubbed passes, terrible giveaways.
I hope it can be fixed with tinkering and/or a coaching change, because there is no way they will blow it up.

The flames have one period in just about every game where they are complete garbage and get outshot by 10-15 shots. Tonight, oushot 22-6 in the second by the sens. Pathetic effort and execution.

No major trades for sure. Not now.
Either way BT knows this cant continue, something is afoul and seems to be festering.
I still believe the trade request pissed him off and has the room upside down....cause this club is THAT fragile mentally.
