Steinberg on Fan960 just played a pre-game clip from Ward:
- He always knew that the playoff/bubble lines worked and had it available as a backup.
- The new lines were just starting to gel prior to Monahan's injury; but injuries happened and he had to bring the blender out.

We're in good hands, don't worry.

Lot's of positives. Gio looked pretty good, even with the flubbed passes. Ras was great.
Noticed they carried the play up the middle much more and used both sides of the ice to break out. Is it because the new lines or did the coach adjust? Either way, offensive breakouts and zone entries were much better, gained a lot more room for the D to pinch.
Ritter struggled a bit. Hopefully Markstrom is back soon.
They were using those breakouts against Toronto, but no one noticed. I want to see how they do against a D a lot better than the Sens, who give a lot of time and space and cough up the puck easily.
LOL. Let's lose to the Oilers twice in shockingly embarrassing fashion and then to the Sens 5 days later, but let's wait to use lines that are proven to work until ????
Only one of those was in embarrassing fashion, and Monahan was out so he couldn't do the real PO lines then.
I suppose 1/4 of a season might have been the plan for the Lindholm as C experiment all along. If you reverted too quickly you’d be accused of a knee jerk reaction to a guy getting used to full time C.
you don't have to apologize for everything
and it wasn't a quarter of the season, it is 40% over already, and the Flames are in a pretty deep hole

Is it just me or does this team love the between the leg back drop pass

Much hotter start for Calgary. Hopefully we get some momentum soon
Quote:
Well, I see where this game is going...
Quote:
Not unexpected so far
Calgary was always going to have a response. It’s too bad they were able to get two goals so quickly. But Ottawa did a good job on the PK. Maybe they can show some push back. There is lots of game to go.

Wow

Started with the ref playing soccer with the puck on our rush

Yikes, what a terrible start.

Wow brutal goals let in by Murray

Watson gave the Flames even more momentum

Watson ragdolled lol
Quote:
That's just funny
Quote:
Not really liking the start to this game so far. Watson and Lucic fight, but Watson is head turned away from Lucic not engaging at all. A stall tactic to get the rest of the team to shake off the poor start?
Quote:
Rag dolled him .. tough customer that Lucic
Quote:
Weird fight
Is Watson injured? Didn’t try to throw any punches and wrestled with one arm.

What the #### was that

Well we were due for a dud

Murray hasn't looked good for the majority of the season, IMO.
He's had some solid games for sure, but his body language in the crease is consistently awful. The number of goals that beat him wide while he's collapsing in as though the shot is about to hit the crest on the front of his jersey is waaaay too many.
Quote:
Not a good start for Murray but Calgary was expected to come out firing

Yikes.
Back to square one again.

smh down 3-0 in 11 minutes lol... way to ruin saturday afternoon

Murray looking sharp

Just not our game. It happens.

I blame myself for their performance for wearing my pj bottoms instead of real pants while eating chips watching this game. Seems to be having a bad effect on them. lol

Jeez Murray...

20 shots on us in the first period. Wow

Well it's been a blast guys, see you next game

honestly what the #### is this team doing? Literally this team isnt going to win if they keep taking penalties
Quote:
Team wasn’t sharp to start. Plenty of blame to go around. Started to settle in. It’s a young team, consistency is going to battle some nights.

More turnovers than a bakery

Well we suck again...

Zero energy in the Sens... Look horrid.

Tierney sucks
Quote:
Turnovers aren’t a coaching issue. The other boys moving forward like that are showing that the have confidence in him to make that play, it happens, but on the whole we forfeit a lot of pucks to turnovers.
I’m unsure where the blame rests with that.
Quote:
Are we going to blame Murray again for another giveaway ?
Quote:
I hate Tierney so much... Hes so soft on the puck
Quote:
What was Tierney thinking. Or was he not thinking at all
Quote:
Tierney f***s me up

Giordano just gave Jimmy a shot on the way to the bench.
Will one of our “tough guys” do anything about it?

Bad penalty, soft clear attempt. Looking pretty bad this game.

So how are we blaming Murray for this one ?
Quote:
holy f*** that was atrocious

Had to get some stuff done
3-1 when I left. 6-2 when I came back. Not too upset about missing this one.
Quote:
WTF? Weird deflection on that one. I’d put Daccord in for the third period. This is not Murray’s day. He is playing OK, things are just not working for him.
Quote:
Lazy lazy play by Batherson there.
Quote:
That's just funny, you gotta laugh

Abysmal.
Batherson had his guy, why the hell did he just skate away?
Chabot's fishing is pissing me off.

Murray in that tkatchuk scoring chance. Where are you going

Blows my mind that players just walk to our net

Were they? I was out of town all week and missed both games.
Good to see. This could be a game changer.
I can’t remember, did Bennett play on LW or RW on Backlund’s line in his first full year? He looked reasonably good that year. Other than that, I’ve never liked him at RW on any other line. With his left shot, he always loses possession trying to go around the outside on the right. He’s much better stickhandling up the middle, where he has more room and can use his skating to beat out a check.
Good win. I get wanting to play lindholm at center but flames don’t have a choice right now. They need wins. Him back at rw with Johnny gives them the best chance.
