Does it have of a bit of a burnt tire smell? That's how i described crack the one time i smelled it...
As far as the speed stick commercial, my Spanish speaking roomie says it's spanish that is dubbed over--he reads the lips.

I also enjoy how half of the threads in the off-topic section eventually work there way around to the Speed Stick commercial. Oh, if only they made a product that could control the potency of their commercial.

Well, crack is going to smell like chemicals, same with meth. If he is smoking straight coke its probably on aluminum so it would smell like melted aluminum. Maybe he just found some really good weed? Some expensive stuff that he can only afford once a week or so?

Hash...that is something I have not considered. To add to the mystery....I went downstairs last night after I smelled the smell...and he was laying on the coach eyes all red....I said "hey buddy how was the night" and he just kind of looks at me with a blank look and says nothing....now I dont know what the heck to think.

I already told you it's crack. Trust the man whose username is icecube from compton. The way you described its smell is a dead giveaway.

Yeah, well it's definitely not crack as crack has more of a bitter smell to it when it's being smoked.
Weed is a possibility, since sometimes weed can smell sweet when burned if it's laced with something...
Crystal Meth is another possibility, but there again it depends what the meth was cut with if it was cut at all... if the meth is pure, it should be odorless though.
Opium is the only drug I can think of that is most likely to give off a "sweet" smell that you describe.

Have you checked out the websites that talk about "how to tell if your kid is doing drugs" ?
What about the library? I'm sure they've got to have some stuff meant for parents to be able to tell if their kids are doing drugs.
Do we have any rehab clinics in this city? (We've got to- isn't that place on the way to the Saddledome a methadone clinic or something.) What about ADAC? They might be able to help you.
The other option, go down to the police station and tell them. If you seriously want him out, then him getting busted and going to jail would do it. However I would save this as a last resort. There's just too many bad things that could happen with this situation.

From a link I found that describes it better than I can. Ring a bell Kipperfan?
"the vile stench of crack cocaine, a bizarre smell that language can hardly describe. Crack’s unnatural redolence suggests chemical, metallic, and vegetable origins all at once. Dirty gym socks being toasted on a rusty cookie sheet might approximate that nastiness"

The confusing part kipperfan, is that you described the smell as being "sweet" but at the same time, like "BO".
I don't know about you, but BO to me, isn't "sweet"!

Maybe he only showers once a week? He waits till the BO gets really bad and then decides he'd better clean up.

So the mystery smell, or its production, leaves him incoherent, red-eyed and with the desire to lay on coaches? I hope it was a she coach.

Definately sounds more like opium or hash/weed from the effects. Another possibility is heroin. If it was meth or crack, like others have said, he would be bouncing off the walls when you came in. If he was upset with you: he wouldnt ignore you, he would let you know.

Interestingly enough, nooooob, I knew what he's talking about, I think: not the BO smell adults are used to (someone who has sweated a lot and not showered) ... more the BO smell teachers are used to: the kid who hasn't bathed in a week, or, the 12-or-13 year old who hasn't had the "deoderant talk" yet.

I know what you mean...but somehow it is like this sweet yet pungent odour.....very confusing to me. Also it is a sickening smell...makes me crazy when I smell it.

I have acctually been reading some of those websites Ken...those are all good suggestions. I think since I am moving soon I will just try and avoid him and the issue until I am gone as long as nothing happens to any of my stuff or my money...etc.
