It changes so fast with all the teams playing each other. Couple weeks ago the Habs seemed like the Belle of the Ball.

So easy path this year for them Oilers to make the post season. Flames just need to get there sh*t together and put a streak together.

Yeah with every game being a 4 pointer I don’t think it’s safe to say anyone is a lock for anything just yet except maybe Toronto in 1st and Ottawa in 7th. As quickly as teams rise they can also fall.

Side note: I hate this all-divisional play and I’m already over it.

Oilers are .500 against not the Sens. Calgary plays all these teams six or seven more times it's certainly in their hands still.

Hahaha Tyler Myers is the stupidest player in the NHL. That was the most obvious interference penalty I have ever seen.

Jets, Oilers, Habs, are all gonna play each other and somebody will lose every game. Won't be like normal when you go on a steak but can't gain ground because everyone is winning.

That is true, we are now .500 against teams other than Ottawa. I suspect after tonight the Oilers will be above.500 against teams other than Ottawa.

Anyone else fear the Oilers going on a run in this division. This is going to be the year for them to win with McDavid and Drai leading a mediocre roster deep into the playoffs. But there's no chance they can beat the American teams with Smith/Koskinen in net, right?

I could certainly see them winning a round or two but I agree that their goaltending simply won’t be good enough to get any further than that.

This division is pathetically weak. In a normal year the Leafs are maybe the 7th or 8th best team in the league. It’s actually a shame that we’re guaranteed a final four spot.

Oh, didn’t you know? He’s the toughest guy on the oilers... IF he’s bigger than the guy, IF the guy is his size or bigger and he can hide behind the ref. Pretty tough dishing out cross checks to smaller guys or non-fighters.

Hopefully they can't, but it is potentially a clean runway for them in the North, weakest division in hockey in my opinion. Would much prefer Edmonton having to go through Vegas.

Mike Smith looked awful to start and yet is 5-0 for the first time in his career.

If they made it to the conference final they’d get swept and probably shutout a couple of times.

On the Oilers:

Smith is a battler and he will deliver stretches of above average to good NHL goaltending. Koskinen is stable if he isn't overworked. They are an injury away from catastrophe but until then it is sufficient.

The first round series in the North will be death battles IMO. The teams will be very familiar with each other and I expect that no-one will have a clear runway. Certainly doesn't disadvantage Edmonton, but they are no shoo-in.

Hate to say it, but these days the oilers are actually getting that derpth scoring, which makes them much more of a threat than just mcdingus and draisaitl PP1. Only in this bizarre time can this band of misfits actually provide depth. Agree goaltending is still a major weakness. But if the other guys can chip in at least a bit that is big. But still, E=NG.

Well to be fair, the 4 unanswered goals doesn't make one feel too good about lauding the Canucks.

And solidifies the oilers- friendly media’s narrative of their heroes overcoming adversity.
