Monahan, Bennett, Hanifin, 3rd to Buffalo
Eichel and Skinner to Calgary
Seems like Buffalo would want Skinner in the package to dump his salary.
Team North America at the world Cup had Gaudreau Eichel and Larkin. Dube has similar speed, just not yet the talent.
I believe Skinner had a pretty good season playing with Lindholm. Needs someone more two way player and with his strong skating it might also be a good fit with Tkachuk.
Phillips and Mangiapane are high motor relentless players.
With the loss of Hanifin could we see a good fit for Valimaki with Tanev? Possibly. Maybe Kylington could grow his game with Tanev as well. Tanev seems to be good with a Rover type player similar to Quinn Hughes, not suggesting Kylington is as good. Valimaki and Nesterov were decent early on, perhaps the shake up lately disrupted their flow.
In any case, would still need to make the money work.
Wishful thinking, pipe dreaming, delusional fantasy, etc etc perhaps.
Gaudreau - Eichel - Dube
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Skinner
Mangiapane - Backlund - Phillips
Lucic - Gawdin - Nordstrom
Giordano - Andersson
Valimaki/Kylington - Tanev
Valimaki/Kylington - Nesterov/Stone

If we grabbed Eichel, I would want Gaudreau long-term-that would be a hell of a duo.

Ewww - that contract. It makes Lucic look like a bargain.

Just to play devil's advocate, perhaps we could get some value out of aquiring Skinner-he'll never be worth $9M, but perhaps he needs a big change, and the chance to get away from Kruger. He's still one of the fastest guys in the league.
As you can probably tell, I want Eichel on this team very badly...

If the price includes taking Skinner at full rip you just walk away.

Curtis Lazar is 3rd in goal scoring on the Sabres. He’s got double Eichel. 4X Hall.

Skinner might have the worst contract in the NHL. Only guy I'd even consider calling worse is Bobrovsky. I remember when lots of people here REALLY wanted Skinner in Calgary a few years ago. Glad that never happened.

Their buyout pays until 2029. The contract would have ended this year.

Good lord. Another question: are they still paying Yashin?

Nope, 2015 ended that.

I don’t think, even for Eichel, you can take on Skinner. That contract is just too terrible. It would cripple any further steps, and you have a few guys coming up that need money.

Yeah, you're right. Even in top form, Skinner isn't worth close to what he's making. Plus, it would handcuff the rest of your roster moves.

True but keep in mind Gio will be done in two years which would free up money. Derek Ryan is gone after this year. I think you can make something work regardless. We have Lindholm and Andersson on sweetheart deals. Markstrom is on a relatively cheap deal considering other elite goalies.

Scoring Winger

Yeah and with Gio leaving, you're going to have to replace him with a top 4 D which won't come cheap. Plus, Tkachuk and Gaudreau extensions if they wish to stay. I'd stay far away from Skinner regardless, the team will have other holes they need to fill and not have it tied up a $9 million 28 year old for 6 more years.

I don’t know for a fact that DiPietro’s license plate is “LNG PAPR”, but if you’re ever sitting in traffic and see that plate, you’re stuck in traffic with Rick DiPietro.
