Johnny says Monahan dragged him past the Jets in the playoffs.

Gaudreau just said it the other night, the same quote where he says "it is hard to play without our best player"

Flames should take Monahan and Gaudreau out 10 games before they enter the playoffs. Get them rested and having both firing on all cylinders. The guy comes back after a few games and the team wins big in TO with a shutout no less!

It's gross that I have to make this argument, but I think every GM in the league would take Horvat.

So the mighty Horvat, one season where he outscores Monahan (and he only has one more point this year in 5 more games) and Monahan has a .7 PPG average in the playoffs to Horvats .69 PPG and you say every GM would take Horvat. That is an interesting take. How about career PPG in regular season, Monahan .76 to .62 PPG. I think you should maybe remove your hatred glasses from Monahan and actually watch him play.

I don't hate Monahan, I don't overate him either.
Horvat and him are both good players, but I'd take Horvat. I wasn't even the one who brought up Horvat anyway, was just saying I get the argument.
If we can't compare good players without that being "hatred glasses" your sensitivity to the player is too much.

Thanks for the fair reply. They are both good players and I would prefer Monahan and i understand your point about Horvat also.

Well he better be for $6+ million. Monahan did look much more engaged then usual, definitely more of jump in his step, ditto for Bennett. Wonder if that’s the Ontario effect as both players knew a lot of their friends and family would be watching. Monahan is always much more effective when he moves his feet, hopefully he can keep this up for longer then he did earlier in the season. He looked good then had a steep drop off. This can’t afford a month between goals from one of their top goal scorers.

Yeah, pretty sure players' salaries are not contingent on them clowning reactionary threads on CP.
"This player is bad! He represents the futility of this franchise!"
*player plays well a day later*
"I'm glad to be wrong! He better prove me wrong for all that money he makes!"
Another valuable lesson learned.

Ummm my point had more to do with the poster’s “integral to the offense” piece.

CP reacts to a 12 game scoring slump = reactionary
1 solid bounce back game = Clowning the reaction
That's some solid math you got there.

Looking back at the 2013 draft, the comparable NHL players thrown out were Paul Stastny, Bergeron, and Landeskog.
He was never going to be a MacKinnon, but it is hard not to say we didn't get good value for the pick. I think he has lived up to his billing as what he was expected to be in the NHL.
