I know that we're all looking for our small moral victories in these games lately. Tonight, I would like to see more forward passes than backwards or lateral passes. That is all.

I share a lot of the disappointment with the majority on the site, but I'm just not that wallow in negativity guy.
This season was always a last one with the core that I don't particularly love season ... and we're seeing that. They're not as bad as things are going now, but probably not good enough to go all that far this season anyway.
Hope they squeak in and do some damage.
I agree with your perspective of the team and how to view as a fan.
The bolded really struck me and I wonder if Treliving feels the same way. Like everyone, I wonder if he has the staying power to last beyond the season and I wonder what he was waiting to see before beginning with some foundational changes. Yes maybe the right deals weren't there this last off season but he has had this team a long time. And as Scorp pointed out in another thread, his in season moves wouldn't have helped an AHL team win a championship, much less this squad.
IMO it's scary imagining any GM going into an off season thinking it's his only timeframe in which to remake the team. This team would have benefited greatly with more change along the way. And yeah it's frustrating that we are on coach 4 with this core and still left wondering what they could do under a quality coach.
I have no illusions about this team being close to a SC contender but winning the Canadian division would be glorious and would create one of the most memorable seasons in Flames history. I hate the idea that the organization isn't putting out the best team possible.
It's funny....ive come to expect this team to fall flat as a pancake yearly and hit rock bottom and man this is eerily reminiscent of the young gun days.
When we had management absolutely Hating each other behind the scenes and most of the Flames alumni were absolutely p issed at what they were watching.
Listened to Cory Sarich just now on the fan. Man would his presence in that locker room right now be valuable because of his demeanor. Calm and cool but watch out he'll call it what it is.....just like Rhetts Rant last week.
God it's awesome when the Alumni are still registering high on the GAF meter.
Sarich ended his small segment with some enthusiasm rather than being negative.
Conny and Marty must be pulling out their hair right now .
I just don't wanna see guys like Dube, Eat bread, Tanev, Markstrom, Lindholm , Hanifan NOT continue to try and play hard regardless of thr amount of passengers on this team.
Sorry for being ALL over the map with this post but that presser with Gio and Tkachuk was telling....I don't think I've 3ver seen Gio so tuned out.....and that my friends is Hard to watch.
This is hard to watch but yeah.....I'll be cheering , looking for whatever positive however miniscule.
Jesus tapdancing Christ I love my Flames and we've seen this before but loyalty is a weird thing.
Just try FFS fellas.

Within the first 7 minutes. Holding or Interference....I'm going Holding tonight.
It's funny that this "Bennett's penalties" narrative has held for years at this point.
He has penalties in only 2/17 games this season. There are only like 4 regular guys on the team more likely to go through an entire game without a penalty.

Funny part is we had a team that had Sarich and Rhett (and Iggy, and Conroy) in the locker room go through the exact same thing.
Back then everybody thought Dion was the issue, but then he was traded and nothing changed still, the team was just less talented. So those guys can throw stones at this roster all they want but they did the exact same thing when they had the chance and looked just as "checked out" as these guys do.
I'd say that team had a similar issue too where they just had poor coach after poor coach for that stretch with Playfair, Keenan, & B. Sutter - none of them really ever looked the part as a top end NHL coach (outside of maybe Keenan who had the team playing well in 08-09 before running into injury/cap trouble and shouldn't have been fired).
If you don't have the talent on the roster, or if you're playing a passive system that prevents you from actually playing with some confidence :Cough Brent Sutter & Geoff Ward Cough: then it's tough to be successful in this league.

1 year today since David Ayres had to suit up to play against the TML and won.
Doesn't really have anything to do with tonight's game, but thought I'd mention it and this popped up on my feed
Story for the ages, and pretty cool as it allowed the Ayres to share about causes they care about.
Go Flams

Go Flames Go! As usual I'll be expecting the worst while hoping for the best. Just kind of sad that worst would be Matthews tying Sittler's record and best would be squeaking out a 1 goal win with great goaltending and a few bounces.

I like Dube a lot but he’s taken more O-zone penalties. Backlund take a bunch too, and his one last game was maybe the worst decision I’ve ever seen him make. Obvious penalty with no reason, didn’t have anything to do with the play, at a time when the Flames were carrying the play and trying to come back from only one goal down.

I don't usually say this but there better be a red bullseye on Jake Muzzin's back. Bennett, Tkachuk, Lindholm, Monahan, Lucic... they all better hit this guy and hit him often.

Well he’s out with an injury so maybe Flames can focus on winning the game instead.

And against Gaetan Haas too. Like why? On that offensive dynamo make that 4th line non NHL talent? Give me a break. Just a stupid penalty.

I think the people who bring up "Bennett penalties" narrative have contracted the Friedman virus. Stir up for the sake of stirring up .
