Yeah, I generally don't care about wins and losses in the AHL because there are so many different factors at play, but it's especially meaningless today. This is the first real game most of these players have played in almost a year, against a team who has already played 4.
Getting lit up in your first pro game seems to be a rite of passage for goalies, and most don't have the excuse of not having played a game in nearly a year.
What matters most is how the players respond to this.

Kerr has been mispronouncing Philp's name all game, hasn't he?
I believe it's supposed to be one syllable like "flip" with the L and I swapped, not "Philip".

What do you guys expect? Treliving crippled the system by trading away all the top picks for immediate help. The Flames also use their team as an actual development team and not just as a self contained minor league team with a need to win. You're not going to complete with a team filled with AHL veterans and top picks. Our starter was a 7th round pick. Expectations.

The Heat had a pretty solid season last year. This first game is not going to make or break the Flames franchise.

Talked to Phillips after the game yesterday — came away from his whole day really impressed. There's no doubt in my mind he belongs in the NHL.

I would think the Flames coaches want him to put a string of good games together where he left off before amping up the competition.
Also, When Phillips is skating and carrying the puck on those highlights you put together, he looks like Gaudreau.
