It's hard to make trades, but it's also hard to win if you never make any tangible adjustments.
Maybe it's time for the Flames to actually try changing the course of their season.

Tells you all you need to know.
Brad Treliving is afraid to do anything outside of tinker with this flawed roster, outside of one move with Carolina.
You don't have to fleece a team on the same level.
But there's such a thing as a lateral move that could spark your club. The combination of character and skill in this core doesn't work as a whole for more than spurts at a time. Exchange a Gaudreau for a Konecny type. Or Monahan for a similar 1A/B.
Look what a change of scenery did for Lindholm. That's the potential upside to lateral core moves.
We should have done that after the bubble playoffs. To come into this season expecting anything other than a continuation because you added Leivo/Simon/Nordstrom is just utter delusion.
There isn't a hidden potential to this current group of guys. Tkachuk will get better individually, so will Mangiapane. But on the whole, there isn't much more there that will suddenly take us all by storm.
Actually transplant some major pieces of this core with new ones however, and you might just give this team the new DNA it needs.
I'd like to see Treliving try. If he's unwilling to or doesn't have the cahones, I'd like to see him gone for someone who will.
Because this team needs a total rebranding at the personnel level.
Whats been happening for 5 years since the core's one and only real run cannot persist. We're spinning our wheels and trying nothing new.
Need new. Need fresh. Need different. We needed it yesterday.
Nut up, Treliving.
