Glad I missed this one tonight. Sounds like the usual crap from this team.

I'm mostly concerned with the upcoming Ottawa games. We cannot afford to piss away the 'easy' points that every other team has been able to rack up

Agreed, and understood. You are probably right. Given his treatment here, and what’s at stake in his future, if the team doesn’t want to reward his playoff results and their own word, and put him in a position to succeed, big surprise, deep down he might want to either get a chance here or be open to elsewhere.

The shame is that the decision by the agent in how to deal with Bennett’s feelings created a big #### storm and is why everyone is talking about it

But there is the fallout of how it was dealt with, and a lot of things being projected on the player, that really actually differ based on what happened. And nobody knows, but so many have opinions.

Then the bush league coach is exacerbating the situation

We agree, Bennett will have to be gone next year barring any unforeseen circumstances. Disappointing any way you look at it for sure

On this night, my beef is with Ward. If he thinks they were going to win 1-0 he is even more disappointing than I thought

Well, not out of it until you're out of it. Even Gulutzan teams could go on a winning streak

Why the hell was Froese out there 4 on 4 with our best forward Gaudreau in the first period? Third time I can remember this season already where they have a plug out during 4 on 4. Nordstrom against Winnipeg twice were the other times. What is Ward doing? Those guys should never see the ice 4 on 4. I was fired up after the first period because of this. Makes no sense. No wonder the team looks like they don’t give a damn. There is no way they have confidence in this coaching staff and it’s showing right now. Ward can’t figure out his lines period to period and he’s in over his head. The Bennett benching has been beaten to death already, but I agree with most it didn’t make sense to me.

This could be a long season the way it’s going right now. I doubt Ward is going anywhere and it’s tough to trade, but something has to happen. This team has no confidence right now.

I believe Ward benched Bennett so you all would bicker about that for 25 pages tonight instead of complaining about Cassie again.

Lame game. Glad I skipped through the majority of it seeing how listless this game was. Lose 2-1 the Oilers with Mike Smith in net and no points from McD or Drai? F'ing pathetic.

I guess that article about Mike Smith being the savior was right and we were all wrong

Okay, so Bennett may or may not have deserved to sit, but what's Ward's excuse for not letting Mangiapane hit the ice for the last 5 minutes of the game? He has a better choice to score than Lucic or Froese, or even with the main group as the extra attacker.

We heard after the loss to Dallas that the Flames players were apparently extra disappointed to lose the series because they believed they had cost Geoff Ward the coaching job, as they really liked him. Maybe that should have been the first sign that Geoff Ward is not the right coach for this team?! Why are we giving this team a coach that makes it fun and easy for them but doesn't seem to make them better?

And I've been generally fine with Ward up until recently. I'm also fully aware given the bizarre circumstances of this season that a coaching change is extremely unlikely.

But jesus ####, Gerard Gallant and Bruce Boudreau are both looking like no-brainers at this point.

I’m bored.
With Ward.

He has or at least should have exhausted his ability to fire coaches and buyout his signings without significant rationale. He has cost ownership enough with all that and more. He has handcuffs on, end of story.

What we as Flames fan's need to make very very clear is that our dollars and loyalty comes with conditions. Armature hour should be over and we are going to need to be a team that is consistently meeting high level performance metrics. You can't guarantee or snap your fingers for a Stanley Cup but regular season and playoff performer but should be part of the deal for a city that has supported it as well as Calgary has. We need to demand better cause that's the way it works. Our dollars and attention for their entertainment and high level performance.

Ownership needs to be made fully aware that in a post Covid world, this level of incompetence's across the board can not be tolerated year in and year out for decades. Few, if any of CP members have earned any NHL related income from building, running or coaching an NHL team. I am sure enough of us can assemble a roster and run a club that has been a bottom feeder in performance for 30+ years. Process the fact that for, what, 70% of this teams existence we have underperformed? Is that acceptable?

I encourage ALL CP fan's to send an email to John Bean, President and CEO of the Flames organization. He needs to understand that his job will be made a hell of a lot harder if we fan's, customers, clients, sponsors and more don't give our hard earned dollars to them. We demand respect!! They need to understand this in the easiest possible terms. If you can't hold up your end of the deal, if you can't do what you are literally being paid to do, than you need to step aside and let somebody in who can do it. Enough of this robbery and the wait and see approach.

I don't have the answers to their overall problems but surely this 30+ year bottom feeding performance isn't it. I don't know how others feel, but I am coming more and more to the realization that I am a broken fan in my mid 30's. I don't know if any amount of glue will bring it back.

Email them in masses so they know WTF is up with their clients and and their revenue base and they can figure it out since they clearly know a hell of a lot more than me.

In my 41st year supporting this team, this is the the most uninspired I have ever been. When I woke this morning I was considering just checking the score and not bothering to watch the game. I don't think I've ever thought that about a BOA before.

The team has somehow found the most boring and ineffectual way to play hockey that is turning into a vicious circle of lacking productivity and maximising dullness.

I don’t see it mentioned but may have missed it. On the first goal the puck goes to the point and Bennett presses. He could have easily taken out the guy and probably get the puck out but at the last second he veers left maybe thinking the defenceman was going to pass across and he’d steal the puck for a breakaway? So now the oilers defenceman keeps the puck in, and it eventually ends up in the net.

This was the year I decided to buy another teams jersey when I had the chance to choose from a nice Gaudreau one on sale. 30 years of this and only 2 years of going past the first round and the current state of the team makes me realize there won't be any success for at least 6 years here, likely more. Vote with your wallet.

I saw Froese on the ice with Johnny 4 vs 4, saw him again on the ice late in the game, offensive zone draw. He is literally well below replacement level so not sure what that is about....?

Tkachuk was gliding around out there like he didn't care in the slightest.

Giordano has gone from elite norris winner to 3rd pairing level defender in a matter of two years.

This team has WAY bigger problems then what to do with Sam Bennett. If the top players continue playing the way they are we will be looking at 6th place in the division by years end.

Pathetic coaching, pathetic compete level.

This is why I think owners are going to get a little surprise when attendance drops once fans are allowed. Honestly, does anyone want to pay ~$150 a ticket to watch this team play the way they are? Especially given all the hurt Covid has provided financially.

I didn't think the flames were BAD last night. Didn't give up much, no stupid turnovers, and Rittich made some big stops when there were breakdowns.

The flames just applied zero pressure on the oilers offensively. The flames systems, forecheck, etc, are sorta useless. No pressure, means no mistakes, made it just so easy for the oilers d and goaltending.

I am not a huge fan of the forwards of this team, however, there is enough skill and talent there to be FAR MORE effective than the coaching staff has got out of them. That's a definite issue on the coaches. Our Gm frankly isn't smart enough to see that.

I fail to see the team's challenges being fully 'effort' based. I saw a team trying a lot last night and much of the nucks series. I also don't see the talent level of the roster any worse than past years (not that it's better, but it's not worse).

Ward stated that coming into this year, he had the team playing his system at about 90% and that getting the remaining 10% was his goal coming into camp. This coaching has broken thd team.

It's Saturday, frigin pandemic, things remain in complete lockdown still here in Toronto. As such, I am excited about having more flames hockey tonight to watch over some beverages tonight. That being said, my care and hope levels are hitting an extremely low level. I'll be just as happy to see the flames win, or get their teeth kicked in just for the growing pressure it should create on ownership to question the current hockey decision making brain trust throughout the franchise......
