Honestly the Flames played a good defensive game. They kept McDavid and Draisiatl to basically nothing.

1 missed assignment as Barrie pinched down low on the 1st goal against, and a bad break on the 2nd goal. The team did fine defensively.

It didn't feel like we had any actual scoring chances for though in comparison. Johnny created the Andersson goal for (with a great shot of course), but almost nothing else came close other than a Lindholm post on the PP.

This team feels neutered.

Results like this shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. This is a mediocre team, and we will continue to see mediocre results.

The team feels like its on the verge of ruin. This is all too familiar. I'm just thankful its happening early this year. No sense getting to the playoffs before realizing its not working.

I would absolutely contribute to a "Fire Ward" billboard gofundme. I have no doubt CP could make it happen easily.

It's not a stretch to state that our ownership group is also incompetent.

On a won draw in the offensive zone down by with 1 minute left, goalie pulled, Mark Giordano's first instinct was to back off the puck in order to not give up an odd man rush. Yes, the puck was sliding towards him, at the point, and he skated backwards. Is this the Mark Giordano we know? #### no. This is a coach and by extension GM's philosophy showing up in the player's instinct and it is based on fear. Tampa Bay had a message written in their locker room when they beat us in 04 "safe is death". How did this team lose that series and not have that as a core philosophy moving forward? What an embarrassment.

Flames played a solid defensive game, element that is missing is the total lack of emotion

They play a soft game, and very seldom get into the tough places.

Basically they are an easy bunch to play against.

Game was boring never thought that would occur with a battle of Alberta

The bright side is that Rittich had a good game. Hopefully gets his confidence up and gets him into a rhythm. I remain optimistic about a team with a confident and consistent Markstrom/Rittich tandem.

Other bright sides:

- Johnny continues to look great, having a huge bounce-back season
- curling is back!
- the polar vortex is gone and the days are getting longer

Look on the bright side guys!

Get rid of Tre, Pascall and Ward. Let Conroy be the acting GM for now.

Mediocre management and coaching, leads to the same results.

So he probably wouldn't be terribly keen on hiring a big-name coach either, and the cycle of perpetuity continues.

I really didn't expect that from the Flames.

They got out-played and out-worked by Vancouver. Lots of heat on the team, lots of rumours surrounding the locker room, terrible starts to games, and a chance to start redeeming themselves against their heated rival and put some emotion into this game. Turn the page - at least for one game.

Instead, they just do more of the same.

Rittich was good. A few other players I thought were also good (like Valimaki). I am happy that Rittich did well - it may be between Calgary and Montreal for the best combo in the NHL at this point (if Rittich continues looking sharp like he did tonight). That's a positive for this team no matter what other noise is going on.

This is a dead team. Someone needs to check this team for a pulse. At least poke this team with a stick and see if it grunts.

I will be surprised if Ward is still the coach by this time next week. The way this team is playing? His lineups - especially at key moments of the game? Not a chance that Ward is retained until this time next week.

Darren Haynes @DarrenWHaynes

As I sleuth it out, looks like an uninspired backcheck by Sam Bennett on the Gaetan Haas goal (not a good look, to be honest -- watch it) is what ended his night. Froese came over the boards, between Lucic and Dube, for the subsequent face-off at centre. That was pretty much it.

This is not benching-worthy

at 0:07 you can clearly see he's in good position to cut off the high slot. He can't read Hanifin's mind and that's what caused the goal against
