Just skimmed Spectors craptacular article on SN

Here was makes me chuckle

“flames with a mediocre 8-7-1 record”
“Oilers team rolling nicely at 10-8”

I have no idea what to expect. Both team have roughly the same potential to be awful. Both goalies have the potential to be awful. Could be a skill fest or a scrapper full of sub plots. Could be one of those games where the Flames expose their defense and stick it to them. Could be a game where they succumb to recent woes and allow themselves to get blown out.

I really wish I knew what to anticipate with this team. I have liked their BOA appearance over the last season plus, so hoping for a continuation of that.

Or

Flames getting by at 8-7-1 against anybody but Ottawa.

Oilers looking on par with 13 of the last 14 years at 6-8-0.

The whole intermission after the SN panel would preach about how McDavid is untouchable and teams need to learn to bow down to his holiness at the blue line and let him walk to the net with no resistance.

It'll be a battle of who is least awful. Knowing that E = NG the final result shouldn't be in doubt. 5-1 flames: Simon hattrick, Mackey with his 1st and the angry, salty tears of James Neal with an OG.

After this weekend:

Flames with a stellar 10-7-1 record

Oilers with a lowly 10-10-0 record

This is a huge game for the Flames. I don't know how they come out tonight - I expect them to come out hard as if their season depends on it with all the negative noise surrounding them in the media.

I predict the Flames will bend tonight, but they won't break, and beating the Oilers tonight will help turn this ship around.

I think the ref pool is limited, no? They are stuck in the N division.

I'm not opposed to mid-season firing, in fact I think now is the time to do it.

But who steps in? I guess Gelly.
You have an assistant take over while Bruce Boudreau quarantines. The guy is chomping at the bit to get back in, I bet he would sign a reasonable deal to take over for the rest of the year and then a contract can be hammered out after this season is over. I like that better than just saying screw this year like some are. This team is not a bad team, we can still salvage this but not with Ward at the controls.

He said he’d like another shot back in Sept. But I’m not sure he wants to come into a mid season thing. I really think Seattle is on the minds of some of these guys, and if he waits a couple months there will be quite a few vacancies.

Gerrard Gallant to Seattle, takes them to SCF in one of the first 3 seasons. Book it!

Possibly, but it’s also a good landing spot for Boudreau - famously a players coach, he’s 65 so it’s possibly a last gig in a no pressure situation.

I’m not saying who gets it. I’m saying it’s a reason coaches might want to wait instead of signing as a replacement.

You would think this image would come off as sexy but mostly it’s coming off as disturbing lol

Just listening to the Oilers reporters on the Fan 960, you’d think they are undefeated and winning every game 10-0.

Apparently every player is perfect. Defense doesn’t matter, but if it does, then McDavid is the best at it.

Putrid.

With that comment, I just achieved the status of "Backup Goalie", so I am taking that as a good sign for Big Save Dave tonight.

Sorry I love Martin Gelinas as much as anyone but unless there is a compelling reason to keep him IMO the principal coaching staff needs to be shown the exit.
