What is all this negativity? You would think this team is 3-13-1 with the way people are being on this site.

Truth is the Flames are 8-7-1, tied for 16th in the league with games in hand on many.

Have we seen them at their best? Certainly not.

Are they struggling and leaning on Markstrom hard for wins? Yes.

Can they start winning? We've seen this group do it, so perhaps. They're always in the game, its not like we are getting blown out every night. Even that last Canucks 5-1 loss was close till the last minutes of the 2nd period.

This strange thought that the players don't care or aren't giving effort is laughable to me. So if the team loses none of them care? But if they win they care? If a guy scores a goal its obvious he cares? But if he takes 5 shots that don't go in he doesn't care?

People actually believe if we lose tonight Ward will be fired? People are hoping for a loss against the Oilers?

I've been very pessimistic the last few days, so time to change that.

Edmonton is the time for this team to wake up and rally together. Rittich will stand on his head tonight and make some big timely saves.

Maybe we could inject a little bit of youth into the lineup with the back to backs? Time to put a new hungry rookie or two into the lineup.

Go Flames!

Gaudreau on D, Nesterov out.

and after a sluggish fist period, he'll blend it up:

Gaudreau - Backlund - Leivo
Mangiapane - Monahan - Simon
Bennett - Lindholm - Nordstrom
Lucic - Froese - Gaudreau

Dube benched because that's what he do.

A loyal season ticket holder since Day 1 at the Corral (as it then was).

Nice having hockey back to watch on TV but the game is really missing fans in the buildings.

This is a lost year. Can’t make any real changes. Team doesn’t seem to care so neither do I.

Gots a rerun for tonight's game.

This game's gonna require a full, team effort so we return to the group effort of CP's Rogue's Gallery - That Darn Puppet, Keanu the Turtle, Mister Sticky, and SNEK!:

Spoiler!

Go Flams.

Rittich should have started last game. Not sure what we get in net tonight.

If the team plays 5 defensemen in the first period we have a good chance of getting one point at least!

Have to keep Lindholm at center at all costs, sign Jamie Lundmark as the first line RW. But whatever you do, please beat the Oilers at least once this weekend.

No - I think people are fed up with watching the Flames implode against crappy teams. I think they're fed up watching lines in a blender *in the first period*. I think they're fed up with lacklustre efforts, starting with the opening puck drop.

Most of that is on the coach. They're unprepared, lack enthusiasm and only really get charged up when they get a goal (but are behind) or when...yah, when exactly?

They'd better come out flying and thoughtful tonight and play as we know they actually can...tight, fast, hard hitting, quick short passing plays, good smart D.

Sadly, I expect the opposite. Scotch and bourbon are at the ready.

Flames with a statement game tonight. End up winning 4-2 with an empty netter, but likely never feels that close and deserve better.

Tkachuk
Mangiapane
Gaudreau

Key words. Lacklustre efforts.

I can deal with a loss to a basement dweller. I can barely deal with a loss to Vancouver or Edmonton. Barely. Junk like that will happen from time to time.

What really gets me going is when the Flames lose, to anyone, because they clearly didn't put in a full 60 minutes effort. It isn't just this year, or just this week that this has been happening. It has gone on for a few years now and it is frustrating.

That would require some help from the Canuckleheads. But two wins in a row would certainly make me feel better about the playoffs.

In a lot of these “slow starts” the team started off just fine until an early penalty sets them back.
