If Tkachuk was the main piece going over, we would need to convince them to take Ryan or something. That would probably cost another high pick or good prospect.
Ryan's contract is expiring and he's already on LTIR. Not that hard to move, and wouldn't cost anything substantial extra.

Not this again.

Over at TSN, LeBrun thinks The Preds are getting close to being sellers.

I don’t know that the Predators have outright decided that they are sellers, but they’re right on the brink. And there’s some obvious names… Granlund, Haula, they’ve signed one-year deals and will be UFAs at the end of the year. Those will be your pure rentals, but there’s a more intriguing name when I talk to teams around the league that they hope will be on the market and I think there’s an absolute solid chance that the Predators at least listen is top four defenceman Mattias Ekholm who has been a long-standing member of that organization. He’s got a year and half left on his contract at a real bargain price of $3.75 million. He does not have any no-trade protection and again this would really be about the Predators perhaps seeing what’s out there and if they don’t like it, then keeping him.

Haula would be a good get for the middle 6.

Oh you had to know we were going to run that one back. That was a guarantee the instant he signed a 1 year deal.

I'm not sure our middle six is where we need to be adding right now.

I'd take that bum Arvidson for the right side.

Does anyone have a list of right wingers that could feasibly be available before the trade deadline this season? By feasible, I mean ones that could be acquired using something like picks/prospects/Ryan/Bennett.

I am curious what’s out there for right wingers at all. Is there anything that could be a good fit for this team?

I think he's one of the most untouchable players on the Pred's roster.
Would be nice though

I don't have a list but I do see Mikael Granlund as a RW/C that the Preds would definitely want to move if they fall further behind in the playoff chase.

He might fit nicely on the right side in Calgary. I have no idea what that does to the cap situation. I assume they'd need to retain some $$ in many of these deals with the flat cap looming over the league.

A good option to consider since he is a RW that could also slot into a center position if the need arises. Good to have that flexibility.

What would be the value in return for Granlund?

I know he is a left shot, but I think he would be a huge upgrade at RW for SM and JG.

Calle Jarnkrok, isn't he Lindholm's cousin or something?

Besides that he's a very versatile middle six forward. Plays all three forward positions and is right hand shot. He's also a decent bargain with a $2 million cap hit.

Why the hell didn't we just ink him in the summer when he was available for weeks instead of two of Leivo/Simon/Nordstrom.

Good question.

I wonder if Kyllington + Ryan + a 3rd would get it done.

Ryan would move the cap, and give them a roster player for the season. So the true add would be Kyllington + a 3rd is that too little?

I think posters here would hate Granlund, because he’s a guy that always seems to leave you wanting more.

Yeah, if you're looking to change the culture to add a little more jam, Granlund is not the jar you should be reaching for

Cap issues? The guys you mention, we got on minimum or close to minimum contracts.

Any of Jarnkrok, Arvidsson, or Forsberg would be wizard level adds to the team.

Forsberg is obviously a dream target.

Has anyone said anything about Getzlaf? Is he going to re-sign with the Ducks? I think he’s a UFA at the end of the year. He has an $8.25 million cap hit. He shoots right and has a history playing in Calgary (a long time ago, I know).

The acquisition cost could be high but if it’s a possibility for the flames it could be an interesting option. He could easily either center the second/third line or play right wing for Gaudreau and monahan.

Would need to send multiple players back to make the cap hit work (Bennett + Ryan + picks).

Not sure if it’s even a possibility though.
