and yeah, some comments on social media regarding his death have been over the top, but the lesson here is: don't live a life that makes people celebrate your death.

I was also offended by his fake, sh**ty radio voice. Only person more disgusting is Alex Jones.

lmao at this decorum horse####. It's ####ing Rush Limbaugh, a man who repeatedly blamed black children for getting shot by police.

Do you melt down like this every time someone has a differing opinion to yourself? Did you start #RestinPiss?!?!
For the record I don't care one iota about Limbaugh's death, I just find the response intriguing.

Rush Limbaugh, on earth for 70 years and a mainstay in the news for 30+ years spouting hate-filled, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, conspiracy-filled nonsense while taking great joy in the deaths of gay people, mass shooting victims, black children, and countless other innocent people. Not to mention advocating sexual assault,
Ragnar: "Rush who? Before my time I guess! But on a quick google I can't see anything more than controversial!"
George Floyd, on earth for 46 years, in the news for a month after he was choked to death by a police officer for 'acting weird'
Ragnar: "Let me inform you of his criminal history between the periods of 1997 and 2007, including a single violent incident 13 years ago which I have researched and formed an opinion on."
Yeah, double standards, hell of a drug.

If the guy is a dick head during his life, why is it off limits to call him a dick head when he dies? Especially a mega uber dick head like this guy.
When Trump dies, I certainly won't hold back on my level of criticism of him.

He's an idiot and not a good person but I'm generally indifferent in regards to his death and stop short of celebrating deaths of people unless we are talking about mass murderers, terrorists, etc. I'm sure when Donald Trump passes away it will be the same thing. I guess I just don't have the pent up hate some of you have for people to whom I don't like or agree with.

Not shedding too many tears over his death. He was the king of mis information, and whipping up anger and hatred.
I think I can leave it at that.

I have family members that are gay and this guy perpetuated hateful, dangerous rhetoric about gay people AND celebrated gay people dying of aids. Not to mention the garbage he spewed about feminism, black people.
I could give a #### about civility regarding the deceased for a guy that dedicated his life to spreading horrible hate about people I love while he was living. Reverence for the deceased is reserved for those that actually deserve it, and misguided quiet stoicism regarding those who don't is pointless. The guy was an ####### and the world is a better place without him.

I don't agree with how you're characterizing others here.
Speaking for only myself, I don't have any "pent-up hate." Rush Limbaugh and hateful people like him don't get the privilege of having a permanent place in my mind or my heart.
But he was more than disagreeable. If we're talking about "pent-up hate," he's the epitome of it. He hated the LGBTQ community, he hated Black people, and at very least he had zero respect for women. He mocked the dead, he dismissed their value, he encouraged violence against people. That alone... whatever, he's not unique. But what is unique is how eager he was to spread that hate and how successful he was at it. When we talk about the fringes of the Republican party, the more extreme MAGA types, and how racism and homophobia have become the loud part of the party when it was supposed to be the quiet part, you can send some thanks Rush's way. It was always there, but he made a point of keeping it as mainstream as he could.
So no, this isn't just "pent-up hate for someone I disagree with." This is about seeing someone who actively hated you for who you are and had no problem spreading that hate, dead. And that brings some relief, if not some joy.
If you don't really care, don't. If you don't get it, oh well. But characterizing this as hateful people reacting to the death of someone they disagreed with, isn't remotely fair. And I don't believe if you thought about it for more than a moment you would still hold that belief because I know 100% you're better than that.
