Alright, so Sam wasn't slacking after all.
Anyone would've been exhausted after that.

Not McDavid and Draisaitl! That's just 1/6th of their normal shift!

I have read that they have amazing super-human abilities that prevent them from tiring. Unlike every other human being on earth Der Derpelgänger can play 6 minute shifts because they NEVER tire.

Even in a Bennett thread you can’t stop talking about how awesome the 2 best players in the world are. Nice to see.

You are mistaking admiration and ridicule. Even in this thread, Edmonton is still no good.

That shift by Sam was actually disgusting. Ok fine, he lost the puck battle by being weak, he never wins them anyways but his effort to come back was pathetic. Usually the guy who gives up the puck works the hardest to get it back. Not Sam. One more skating stride or some effort to be strong w his stick check could have easily broken up that play. He literally just had to skate and Myers couldnt have cut across the ice like that.
If we had that camera angle from above it would be the best controller disconnected meme on the internet.
Tie game with 5 mins left in the 3rd. Zero dig down, no compete on the game winning goal sequence.

To be fair, Bennett also blocked a Myers slapshot off the skate that seemed to injure him 25 seconds before the goal. He looked to be labouring a bit afterwards and may have had an impact on his ability to defend properly.

He couldn't make one more stride before disconnecting? I've seen guys block shots and make more effort on one leg than that showing.
I hope he's going to be ok.

Just watched that entire sequence again and don't buy that. Bennett initially looked stung by the glancing shot @ 5:38, but within six seconds @ 5:32 he was putting full weight on the foot that was glanced and was skating without any indication of any discomfort. If anything the line was tired because they were out there for over a minute (line change at 6:24 left in the third) and couldn't get the puck out of their own zone even though they had multiple opportunities (Bennett @ 6:10, but the puck was immediately shot back in; Girodano @ 6:00 but it was kept in; Lucic at 5:50 but he mishandled the puck.) Leivo actually cleared the puck to Bennett outside the blueline @ 5:20, but Bennett then loses the puck battle @ 5:18 and Myers is off. Bennett has a chance to break up the play at 5:14, but waives at the puck instead of playing the body, and the puck is in the net @ 5:11.

I hope he's going to be ok. No kidding. Pretty badly injured to skate that slow. Must have been focused on the pain.

So another get of jail free card for Gio?
NONE of that would have happened if he made a 4 foot pass to Lucic behind the net. He couldn't even do that and hit the back of the net.......

I want gio moved the most. He is the captain of mediocrity. Never has called out players and we have had so many listless nights

Well, it was more like a 40' pass and it was Lucic who handled it like a hand grenade. Gio never should have gone that route. Given the choice of moving the puck to the guy with Readymix in his mitts or move it himself, he should have recognized he had time and he had space. He should have used his legs and moved the puck up ice himself. So yeah, Gio made a bad decision, but it was Lucic who didn't handle the puck.

With Backlund out now, Bennett has been moved to centre and is playing alongside his bubble bros in Looch and Dube, this happened about halfway through the 4th game of his time with Gaudreau and Monahan.
With that said, Sam Bennett scored 2 goals in 3.5 (round it to 4) games during his time with Monahan and Gaudreau.
That's not bad production.

And currently -3. And those goals against show everything from bad luck to lack of game sense to lack of try.
I just don't know what to think of him. Hopefully he digs in here with Backlund out and shows us a real useful side.

In those 4 games, he was actually an even player.
He was -4 through the first 3 games of the season, and is slowly digging himself out of that.

Bennett was pretty damn good last game. I saw him getting inside the dots to rip a shot(s) and he fired another just high. I don't think it's easy to go from wing to centre (especially to play the kind of hockey he did last night) but his line was dominant some shifts with pressure. Very effective against the way VAN plays.

His game (and Lucic and Dube, not to mention Mangiapane) is better against poor defencemen who give up the puck under pressure. As it happens that’s ideal for the Canadian division.
