Icon33 Paul Byron, Alex Galchenyuk, Danny Dekeyser, and 2 others on waivers

Canadiens Montréal @CanadiensMTL
Les Canadiens ont soumis l’attaquant Paul Byron au ballottage aujourd’hui afin qu’il rejoigne l’escouade de réserve de l’équipe.

The Canadiens have placed forward Paul Byron on waivers today so that he can join the team’s taxi squad.

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
#Canes have also placed Alex Galchenyuk on waivers. He’ll remain in Canada for another 24 hrs - if a CDN team wants to claim him, he won’t need 14-day quarantine.

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Alex Galchenyuk (CAR), Paul Byron (MTL), Par Lindholm, Danny Dekeyser and Gabriel Carlsson (CBJ) are on waivers.

Galchenyuk could be an interesting pickup for somebody.

Grab Galchenyuk. Available immediately and adds some skill to the roster. We need more depth with both Backlund and Ryan going down.

How many teams have said this and done this - and then he isn't.
He just isn't a good NHL player.

If Byron didn’t have three years left on that deal I’d take a flyer but no thanks with that term left.

If Backlund is hurt I’d take a flyer on Galchenyuk maybe. Just another warm body right now that isn’t named Zac Rinaldo. He’s been a 0.5PPG guy when used in the right situation.

Galchenyuk seems like someone's the Oilers will pickup and he'll be back out in the abyss by season's end.

His next team will be his 7th. I imagine he will get another chance but all indications point to him not being an NHL player.

Savior, no, but looks like a pretty good upgrade in our bottom 6 at the moment. It’s only +325K vs Froese. Galchenyuk has been over 50% in the dot in the last couple of years. He’s a bigger body. Can put up a few points. That’s a lot of check marks not in our bottom forwards, especially with Ryan out.

It’s also a very low risk experiment. You can waive him back again when players return or sooner. Might be a nice way to shake things up a little after the worst game I’ve watched the Flames play since GG.

Remember the flames rated Galchenyuk 1st in the draft, not sure if it still matters, or is there a way to get him cheap? Or he is cheap already, maybe give him a try, the right wings signed this season no one working so far

So the Canes acquired Galchenyuk and waived him immediately.

If Backlund is out for any length of time I would take a look at Galchenyuk, put him in a strictly offensive role with Gaudreau and Monahan.

The Canes wanted Paquette and had to take Galchenyuk to make the trade work.

Don't think that line needs a soft passenger on wing.

Wonder if Galchenyuk ever got a hold of his addiction issues? McGrattan might be a good influence on him.
