Might not want to embarrass the Canucks too badly tonight as there's plenty of speculation out here on the left coast that Benning might be canned as early as Sunday.
Oh to heck with it, embarrass them badly Flames lol

Even if the Canucks fire Benning, they will still have to finish out the year with John Weisbrod at the helm. And then looking into the distant future, anyone they choose to replace him with will then have to deal with the cap disaster he has left in his wake: long term deals for bottom-end players still on the books for multiple years; $12 m of cap space committed for several years to a pair of #3-5 defensemen; pending RFA extensions for their two biggest star players.

It will be curious to see how Vancouver comes out. Anyone's guess tonight.
Will the come out strong like their season depends on it like last game?
Will they just come out flat with all the rumours?
Either way, the Flames win this game in the first period. I predicted it last game as well, but that fluky puck sitting there that FINALLY gave the Rob Kerr "where is it?!?!?!?!?!" scream justice, put into question the outcome of the game until the 2nd.
No more fluky goals against. Flames win the game in the first, even if they come out flat. Canucks are a dead team.

Yup, if they get embarrassed tonight, I think the nucks pull the plug on Benning.

They played a very good first 40 minutes the previous game vs Toronto too.
After 2 games where they gave it their all and still lost, will definitely be interesting to see how they come out tonight.
I think they're already broken but hoping the Flames don't play down to them.

I bet a number of players secretly wish the season was just over already.
This is a don't let up on them moment, they will crumble if we play them hard again.

We need to establish teams we can reliably beat and beat them reliably.

I sure wish Tkachuk would start showing up. We can’t have Lucic’ scoring all the goals!

@Fan960Steinberg
With d-man Nikita Nesterov skating late in Vancouver per
@KevinisInGoal, looks like we’ll see our first change on the blueline this season.
Curious if Connor Mackey makes his NHL debut tonight. Oliver Kylington would also be an option. #Flames

Ummmm why? He’s been extremely steady for a 3rd pairing guy.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Would be weird if this were a punishment for not picking up on the puck or the player when Boeser scored the other night. Such a bang bang play. Even Markstrom lost it.

Kylington more likely, I would assume.

Not a bad game to give another Dman a game in though.
Nesterov has been pretty solid for a #6 though. He still seems to deflect a couple shots dangerously onto Markstrom each game though.

I’d say not a punishment so much as giving someone else a game. Nesterov is the 6th D and this comes with the territory

Looks like Mackey's NHL debut
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Solid chance Connor Mackey makes his NHL debut tonight in Vancouver. Would be Calgary’s first change on the blueline this season.
Per @KevinisInGoal, both Nikita Nesterov and Oliver Kylington skating late after practice. Almost always an indication they’ll sit. #Flames
