Some people don't see talent even when they're witnessing it every other day. Rather, they focus on the names and draft position.

"Mangiapane? Yea, for a 6th round pick he's pretty good. Maybe a 2nd liner but probably a 3rd on a good team"

Like come on, there's a legit argument to be made that Mangiapane is a top 3 forward on the Flames at 5v5, if not the best. You really couldn't ask for a much better player at even strength.

The moment the Flames are able to negotiate with Mabgiapane next year, they need to get to work on locking him up long term.
I’ve been a huge Eat Bread fan from the get go. His drive is reminding me of a Brayden lite. Just doesn’t seem to give up, and plays with a damn motor. He’s just great around the net.

What does that make the Oilers when they lose to the alleged frauds and require a handful of Ottawa wins (some they got rather unconvincingly) just to keep them at .500?

Hypocrisy is fun.

Interesting game, definitely a game where the goalie stole 2 points.

It should of been over after the first half of the game.

Canucks broadcasts are such an embarrassment. It’s just non-stop fellatio.

On the Boeser goal John Shorthouse referred to Elias Petterson’s bank pass off the boards as “Hilight Reel”.

But Oiler fans get upset with a goal call by Harnaryan Singh.

Me too.

I was frankly shocked to see a Flames skill player taking no #### and retaliating in full and then some.

Good on Elias.

Good road game, like Gio said. It sounds like the Flames expected a big push from the Canucks off the bat . Arguably that, plus Ras’ penalty, had the Flames not as aggressive in their play. But I thought they played pretty well defensively in that period.

I’ve heard both Nesterov (on the Boeser goal) and Monahan (on his penalty) described as lazy which I think is unfair. Nesterov hustled to try and break up a breakaway by Boeser, and he succeeded. He and Markstrom both brain cramped and must have thought the puck had deflected away. That’s a mistake. It’s not lazy. Similarly, Monahan had moved back to cover D (responsible) and was doing his best to stick with his man. As a forward covering a rushing guy, he was outmatched but I thought he did a pretty good job until his stick got a little tangled, and the Canuck went down pretty easily as well. Not lazy - just caught in a bad spot and he took a penalty. It happens. Ras’ penalty was way worse.

My only grip with the team's play at the moment is that they are relying on Markstrom a little too much. If Rittich was in net for the last three games the Flames probably lose all three of them. For a team that doesn't score as much as other teams in the division they need to give up less quality scoring chances IMO.

Not to mention they are 0-1 vs. the Flames. Special kind of mind games they play with themselves.

Someone mentioned in a pre-game thread (I think) that the Flames only needed to play 20 minutes to beat the Nucks. I think last night proved that they really only need to play about 10 minutes to beat the Nucks, as long as Markstrom plays all 60.

Having said that, they came out like they were expecting the Nucks to make a big push and they were hoping they could weather the storm, which they did. They need to come out thinking "let's take it to them from the drop of the puck and crush their spirit before the 10 minute mark".

Happy with the win, so happy that Markstrom signed here, but looking for a better overall game on Saturday.

And screw the Oil. They beat Ottawa because Ottawa's goalie couldn't stop a beach ball and all three goals allowed were horrid, then beat a tired Montreal team that scored on their own net... and the Flames are the fraud?

Give it another week or two and the Oil will be back in the bottom three for the division, which has 4 decent teams, and 3 not so decent teams. That will settle out before long.

That's cool but Sean Monahan had easily the best pass in last night's game.

Ya I believe the rebound actually would have ended up in the slot area for a Flame to clean it up safely but it hit nesterov on his backcheck and then both he and Markstrom lost it from there. Just unlucky more than anything but nobody's fault.

Though he was pretty mad at one point when he'd been clipped (maybe?) in the corner behind the net - they only showed it briefly - but as he was going off the ice he kept yelling at someone "F off" multiple times if my lip-reading can be trusted.

That line generally hasn't worked, and last night was no exception.

Tkachuk and Lindholm have had great numbers without Dube, though that sample size is getting smaller in comparison to the time spent with Dube.

If he's not hurt the coaching staff seems to be suggesting the issues are more with Dube than the other two.

I noticed that huge offside, and a bit of a lag in hustle to get back out. Maybe he's running around a little defensively?

I know Peters mentioned he needs to dig in or something in training camp last year as well. Play better away from the puck.

That was right after Rousell appeared to spear Johnny, or jammed his stick between his legs. Of course, went un noticed by stripes

Lol, it’s like they’re trolling them selves.
I actually think that that is a very fitting name for them. And it also rolls off the tongue perfectly.

Fraud-menton. I like it!
