This season is quickly becoming a gong show. Why not just make Iggy the coach? It's a shortened season, and the Flames are not looking like contenders. I'd tune in just to watch Iggy.
My kid currently plays at Rink/RHA. It is big news at RHA. Certainly creates some heightened branding and benefits of a class guy like Iggy.....and Jarome gets to coach is kids. Win win. Ritchie is sticking with his son, whom is moving on from Bantam so Iggy will more than fill into that vacated spot.
The oldest is going into his first year bantam so a few years away still. But his oldest is very skilled and skates very much like his dad. Good chance he goes high in the WHL draft and then see how things progress
As much as it is nice to think about Iginla as a coach or GM of the Flames, I tend to think that it is way for a player to damage their reputation. Do any Flames fans remember Risebrough as a hard nosed player who helped get the Flames to the finals in 86... Or do they remember the guy who made crap trade and the playoff failures as a coach. Iginla's legacy is better, but coaches and GMs are hired to eventually be fired.
gaaaahhhh.... kelowna 'news' webpages are the worst.
castanet is usually pretty bad - lots of 'click bait' headlines and TONS of spelling/grammatical errors (i know it's bad when i actually notice them). at least they used a pic of iggy from the rink hockey webpage: https://www.castanet.net/news/Kelown...Hockey-Academy
and then there is kelownanow..... uuggghhhh. their headline mentions 'nhl legend' and i guess the only image they could find of this legend is one of iggy on the ice for la. really??!?! https://www.kelownanow.com/watercool...ey_in_Kelowna/
you suck kelownanow!

I feel like Iggy would be the perfect combination of a "player's coach" but also a guy who doesn't put up with ####.
I cant speak for hockey but in soccer ex players tend to make rubbish coaches for their old teams, to much baggage, to much lee way from the fans and owners, also the players that seem to make great coaches tend not to be the stars but the grinders.
They often do fine on another team but the weight of expectation and history weighs too heavy on their old team

You could be a Risebrough. But you could also be an Yzerman. Or at least a Sakic, who has done pretty well.
I could see the argument that an ex-star player is likely a better gm than coach because talent recognizes talent, whereas talent might just think players can do stuff they used to do. But I haven’t really looked at it.
This guy must walk with a literal aura of positivity shining from him everywhere he goes. Is there any person out there that can't help but smile when they listen to Iggy??

That's probably why he gets along so well with Connie. The positivity when those two guys get together must be overwhelming lol.
