I was being facetious. I don’t think this “get used to the line” is a great excuse for not looking for a man instead of the low percentage wraparound.

It was ugly. But she basically hasn't played in a year and a half

Flames deep playoff runs generally coincide with bringing Russians into the lineup.

Don’t mind Nesterov at all

Give him time he is just starting to play with those guys, not too many other players have had success with Mony and Johnny; Besides Hudler and Lindholm.

maybe focus on the other 18 Flames on the ice for the rest of the night, you might actually enjoy what is a pretty good ice hockey game

Thanks for this. Reminded me about a couple of pints of Guinness I'm owed from Bianca's US Open win that I've yet to collect on. Had totally forgot about that bet.

My mood has improved, despite Bianca's current struggles

That was a solid period. Didn't get a goal but there was chances.

Glad to see that after the last few starts

Ferland did OK. So it was pretty seamless Hudler to Ferland to Lindholm. Hopefully this works but Sam’s issue has never been his compete level - it’s been his tendency to not use line mates well. Hopefully he can cross that barrier with Monahan.

To be fair Bennett had no idea Gaudreau was there. His situational awareness on that play was not good. He raced to the post hoping to score on the wrap around rather than recognize where his linemates were. If he was aware he would have taken it further to the corner and opening up the slot for a pass to a wide open Monahan in a high danger area. This is one of the things that hurts Bennett. He doesn't read the play. Great at crashing the net and scoring dirty goals here-and-there, but the rest of the game is just not good. There is more to the game than running around with your hair on fire. Love the effort, but use your linemates!

When it comes to Benny, you just have to keep your expectations realistic. He's really not a 1st or 2nd line player at all but if he's at least contributing on one of those lines for now you take what you can get. He's not the smartest player on the team so on a play like that wraparound he'll rarely notice Monahan there. He just isn't programmed with elite vision. But when he's skating, hitting, not taking stupid penalties and getting chances I'd say it's a very successful period for him. He won't play on that line forever but if the team keeps playing like it is tonight I have no problem keeping him there for the immediate future. At least he's playing with some emotion.

The passing was on, the defensive zone coverage was on, forecheck was on. Strong details that period.

They keep doing that and the pucks will go in.

String good shifts and good periods together. Play fast and compete hard boys and generate chances.

If Bennett just keeps going hard to the net, that is enough. Gaudreau will find ways to utilize him. Also, his crashing the net will take attention away from Monahan.

Bennett doesn't have to be another Gaudreau in order to be an effective addition to the line.

I prefer to just watch and see how it shakes out. So far so good. on this line. All 8 ever asked for when it came to Mr.Bennett was a lot of rope. So hopefully this is the time. Fun thing with lots of rope, you can hang yourself with it too. So if he fails, then it's over, but just let it play itself out instead of jerkong it all away in the cohesion stage.
