Burke is going in as a secret agent for Treliving and is going to trade Crosby for Bennett and parts.

"announced today by co-owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle."

With the co-owners name we should have predicted it

Ron Burkle = Ron Hextall + Brian Burke

They have to add Jankowski for it to make sense now.

The forum needs someone to complain about.

Plus his name is similar to Hanowski

I would target Jared McCann or Zach Aston-Reese from Pittsburgh in a Bennett trade. ZAR is one of the best defensive forwards in the league.

I fear more of a Fletcher-Risebrough dynamic. Gaudreau, Andersson, Kylington and Rittich for Zucker, Kapanen, Ceci and Jarry.

Literal fights in the front office wouldn't be unexpected.

If I were in broadcasting and got another job offer you'd better believe I'd be jumping all over it like a fat kid on cake.

Who wants to be the last guy around when the music stops and they ask you to turn off the lights?

I am not a huge fan of Burke on the broadcast because he likes to throw his takes out as definitive sources of truth, very black and white with little nuance. So makes me chuckle that his statement on being done with hockey management for good gets reversed.

The man has every right to change his mind and I wish him well. His record as a GM is crazy overrated so not like the Pens have picked up some competitive advantage IMO.

I wonder if Bob Hartley will be Pens coach at some point.

Burke makes sense, if he was ever going to work for a team again it was going to be out East. It's a great fit, and his kids are older now he doesn't have to fly back to see them every single week on his own dime as much anymore.

The sad part, one less hockey guy on Sportsnet. Really enjoyed Burke on TV

They didn't hire Feaster as GM.

Burke and Hartley seemed to have built a solid working relationship here, even before Treliving came on board. Randy Carlyle another name that comes to mind of course.

Burke is a guy who will make changes immediately to retool. He’s not a rebuild guy. So it should be really interesting to see what he can do because they don’t have many assets that are just about to fall off. Letang is past his prime and wouldn’t get a kings ransom. So that probably leaves Zucker, Guetzel and draft picks to build off of as tradable assets assuming your core will always be Crosby and Malkin until they retire. It’s going to be a very tough situation for them unless they hit some home runs early.
