I cannot pin this all on the coach. These players are weak mentally and have quit on the team.
But yeah, their instincts are opposite what they should be, and that's due to coaching.
Fire the coach and remove half the roster. This team is not going anywhere.

This team is so mentally fragile.
The penalty on Tkachuk was a complete joke, but the team was immediately terrified of making contact as a result.
We've seen that exact trend with many games this year after a terrible penalty against early... the team just wilts immediately.

Ya because before that call the Flames were dominant. I mean, they had ONE SHOT ON GOAL and virtually zero zone time but ya... that call is the problem.
Not the fact the Flames can’t complete a two foot pass.
Not the fact the Flames can’t clear their own zone, can’t enter the Oilers zone and can’t generate any offence whatsoever.
Not the fact the Flames have zero heart and zero effort.
Nope, that one call was all the difference.

Just running around like deer in the headlights.
They'd better pull their heads out of their collective butts if they want to get back in this. They've been lucky so far, but you can only let McLotteryBall and his pals go at it so often until they burn you.
Would be nice to see a hit sometime, too.
Doesn't help that the Flames are their own worst enemies right now. Brutal.
