I hate this organizational philosophy on this stuff sometimes.

Gawdin is there, had a great year in the AHL last year, and deserves a shot. But nope we need to go with the 29 year old.

Because you just know this organization is going “Well Froese has some NHL experience from 3 years ago, so we should bring him up”

And if Gawdin were to be recalled he'd probably sit.

Adam Ruzicka will likely make the team by the time playoffs roll around.

No logical thought allowed when the team lost the last two games!

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Derek Ryan sustained a fractured finger on Thursday night.

Sounds like Byron Froese will slot in for him tonight vs. Edmonton. #Flames

Ryan didn't take Bennett out of the lineup. Simon came in for Bennett. If Bennett is back in then Simon is the likely scratch.

Here’s a little additional info on Froese for the heck of it.

BYRON FROESE (FRAYZ)
POSITION: Center
DRAFTED: 2009 - Fourth Round (119th overall) by Chicago Blackhawks
AGE: 29 (3-12-1991)
BORN: Winkler, Manitoba
VITALS: 6'1", 202 pounds
SHOOTS: Right

* Froese formerly served as captain of the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, where he had 30 points (14g-16a) in 46 games in the 18-19 campaign... His 14 goals led the team before being traded to the Flyers organization along with the Schlemkat in exchange for forward Dale Weise and defenseman Christian Folin.

*With Stockton he had 42 points (19g-23a) in 46 games last season.

* Over parts of three seasons in the NHL, he has appeared in 110 regular season games for Toronto and Montreal, recording a total of five goals and 11 assists for 16 points.

Here's his chance to shine, albeit with not many minutes to do so.

I was saying if they brought a kid into the lineup, like Gawdin, he would sit.

Froese is a vet. Who was recalled instead of the rookie.

Damn. Ryan will be out a month most likely. That’s how long Gaudreau was out for last time this happened. That’s roughly 14 games this time around without one of their most consistent role players. His line was looking great too minus the lack of finish.
