I don’t know for a fact that Eklund has “80% of success is showing up” tattooed across his chest in reverse so he can read it in the mirror every morning, I just know it’s true.

Yes, anyone who agrees someone who served one year in jail for killing someone because they were drunk behind the wheel has paid their dues really has standard issues.

What was he supposed to do, stay in prison voluntarily until you thought it was time to let him out?

dissentowner stated that he had a person close to him that was killed by a drunk driver, therefore his feelings on the matter will automatically be a lot stronger than yours. Respect.

Wtf are you babbling about? I said I took offence to someone saying he paid the price for his crime, he didn't. Is recklessly taking someones life worth one year? If you got drunk and shot someone in the head and killed them is that worth one year? If someone killed your mother while bombed out of their mind would you be ok with them serving a year? I don't know MacT on a personal level, he might be the nicest guy in the world now but to say he paid the price for his stupidity is just not true.

Please no DeAngelo. Guy sounds like a mess in the locker room.

There has been no movement on this in two days. I am guessing that this rumour is vacuous. Maybe it's time to lock this one up?

Probably depends on if Bennett plays tonight or not. If he’s scratched again this thread is going to be healthy.
Also we know Tre, he’s a different type of negotiator and isn’t influenced by the heat. He’ll only do something if it’s what he wants, he could be squeezing.

Which usually ends up being doing nothing at all - and the mediocrity of this team continues.

I don't doubt that Treliving is working hard to find a deal for Bennett. However, I remain extremely sceptical that DeAngelo is being targeted, and with a couple other threads in which to discuss Bennett this one seems superfluous.
We will see what is said on the Hot Stove tonight, but if this particular rumour doesn't go anywhere, then I am locking this one up.

Unless I'm miscounting, that would leave us with only two other threads to discuss this.

Haha. Exactly. Any thread can be a Bennett thread, isn’t that right?

I’m not going to disagree with anything you’ve said, and I’d be devestated if that was my family.
Yes he only spent one year in jail, but he has truly tried to make amends and spent a lot of his life trying to educate people on the dangers of DUI.
From an article about him
“ MacTavish paid for his crime, not only by doing time, but by speaking at numerous schools about the dangers of drunk driving and by serving as the honorary chairman of Edmonton’s CheckStop anti-drunk-driving program. He also forged a bond with Kim Radley’s parents, Ron and Hazel Foote. They visited MacTavish in jail and forgave him for his crime. Out of this visit came a relationship that has lasted to this day, with Hazel still sending a card to MacTavish on his birthday.
“I have a great deal of respect for Craig MacTavish,” she says. “He was a young man who made a tragic mistake and was extremely sorry for it. I regard him very highly.”

No, I am not going to respect his choice to judge another human being because he himself has strong feelings. Strong feelings make for bad judgement at the best of times. If he wants to say what he thinks MacTavish's punishment should have been, and has a reasoned case for it, I'm prepared to listen. But that is not what he is doing.

He paid the price he was required to pay. I agree with you that it was too light – but honestly, what else was he supposed to do? Are you going to carry a grudge for life against every complete stranger who got off too lightly in court?
If you have a problem with the justice system, join the club. But that doesn't give you an unlimited licence to bash Craig MacTavish.

Yeah...this incident was over 35 years ago. It was a different time.
Attitudes towards impaired driving have changed and severity of punishment has most certainly changed.
MacTavish would almost certainly face a much stiffer penalty if he did what he did then....now. Though i am admittedly zero percent familiar on the Massachusetts penal code.
MacTavish did his time and paid his dues equal to what was considered justice at the time.
Time to move on.

Wanting to be in before the lock...
I’ve seen Bennett for D’Angelo, and Bennett for poolparty, but how about poolparty for D’Angelo? #orangejuliusE4
Brooks should run with that!

Eh, I don't want to pay to keep them behind bars. A year is plenty.
