Yep, he was given no reason. Walked in, saw he was on the Taxi squad and wasn't dressing with the team. He did elude to there being some sort of conversation, but he said he wouldn't comment on that and that whatever is going on will be handled by his agent and Treliving.
It is baffling to me that he was on the ice practicing today after they handled the Taxi squad situation like that.

He didn't go that far. He accused them of not communicating. He doesn't say when it was that he "walked in" and found out either. Maybe he saw something before Ward had a chance to see him.
Hockey players usually don't want to admit they've been criticized by the coach. I have very little doubt he was told why it was. Are you saying he saw he was scratched, not told why and he didn't even ask? He just walked away and skated with the taxi?
Not believable.

Why wouldn't he say essentially the same thing re: Ward when asked if he knew why he was a healthy scratch? (ie., "I'll keep that between the coach and myself")

The team found out about the trade request on CBC TV. Bennett finding out he’s on the taxi squad on the whiteboard is fine.

I think it's Sam's problem that feels entitled to a roster spot regardless of how ineffective, and sometimes even detrimental his play has been this season. Every time he walks into practice, he should be crossing his fingers that he isn't scratched.
Bennett needs a little self awareness. Players that play at replacement level do not need an explanation from the coach.

Bennett doesn’t want to play for the Flames.
The Flames scratched him so he doesn’t play for them.
They don’t need to give him a reason, he gave them one.

Yup, let's keep this guy few more weeks to work out a better deal.
Just move the guy already. Sam is a good guy, he deserves a swift conclusion to this.

He probably just needs to hear it from Tre tbh... kind of clear he's lost faith in the coach at this point.
Similar thing back in the day happened between Naslund, Keenan and Burke. Naslund wanted out, Burke gave him a proverbial smack between the ears and told him to stop playing like #### or they weren't gonna be able to trade him anyway, and Naslund woke the F up.
